1953 JAGUAR XK120 ROADSTER. BLACK CAR WITH RED TRIM. DISC WHEELS WITH SPATS. FANTASTIC SPECIFICATION. 4.2 LITER, 5-SPEED, FRONT DISCS, ELECTRIC FAN. BUCKET RACING SEATS, MOTOLITA WHEEL. BELIEVED 52,525 ORIGINAL MILES WITH ONLY 3 OWNERS. INCLUDES ORIGINAL 3.4 LITER DRIVETRAIN.Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this fantastic black XK120 that was recently purchased from only it's third owner from the East Coast. The car was originally Black with Blue trim. The previous owner purchased this car in the early 1980's with low miles and with a known history from new. It was then carefully and lovingly restored, mechanically and cosmetically in the late 1990's by himself, to it's current specification as you see it today. The only metalwork that was required was simple replacement of the outer rockers. This preserved car has been very well-looked-after since new and only required a straightforward body-on restoration. The car's drivetrain and seating was expertly upgraded to provide a driving experience like no other XK120. The workmanship overall was completed to a very nice standard. The car received nice body and paintwork as part of it's restoration that is still holding up very well overall. There is no evidence of rust or accident damage anywhere on the car, as the bodyshell is quite superb overall. The car's paint, chrome, and rubber are all very nice and present well with nice closing/fitting/latching body panels on a very honest and straight body. The car's interior was retrimmed in red leather with wool carpets and presents beautifully overall with little signs of normal use. The car is fitted with seat belts and a slightly smaller, handsome Motolita alloy/wood steering wheel. The racing seats are a huge plus, as anyone knows who has driven a 120. The seating arrangement and position now make it possible for drivers even around 6'2" to navigate the car with ease.Mechanically, the car includes it's original matching numbers drivetrain. Currently fitted in the car is a very healthy rebuilt 4.2 Liter unit from a mid 60's saloon (engine number 7D56021-8) fitted with twin HD-8 2 inch S.U. carbs, estimated around 220 bhp. It has been fitted custom-fitted to a T-5, 5-speed gearbox that works beautifully in the car. The car also received an XJ-6 style spin-on oil filter, electric cooling fan, rear telescopic shocks, and upgraded front disc brakes from a MK-9 Saloon, and a stainless "straight-through" style exhaust system. The car's engine roars to life and thrusts the car nicely down the road with a superb precise gearbox, good brakes, taught rebuilt suspension. It's an absolute delight to take out for a blast. The car also includes it's original sidecurtain set (needing restoration), powder coated top frame assembly, original front drum set-up, original seats, engine and transmission, miscellaneous mechanical parts- all reversible items if one chooses to revert the car back to standard. A set of brand new set of 4 Michelin 185x16 Radial tires accompany the sale of the car. The fitted, older Pirelli Cinturatos are ready to be changed out.Overall, a fantastic looking and driving XK120 in superb colors with desirable disc wheels/spats with only three owners and original low mileage. This very special car presents a unique opportunity to acquire an upgraded, very genuine 50's Jaguar Sports Roadster that can be driven and enjoyed regularly, almost with ease.
