1965 Jaguar Mark X Base Additional Info:
This 1965 Jaguar Mark 10 is a solid, decent car in need of light restoration. The engine runs fine, with freshly rebuilt triple carburetors. The fuel tanks were cleaned and etched but never finish coated, so the car is currently running off a gas tank in the trunk. The electric fuel pump works fine.
This car spent all its life in southern California until about a year ago when we bought it with some other cars. It was owned and cherished by one family since new. Some time in the recent past the interior was reupholstered professionally in high quality black leather, as original. The leather is supple and free of tears, fading, or other damage. The carpets were also replaced, probably at the same time, and they are in good condition. Headliner is excellent. The woodwork is original and needs refinishing. There is some veneer damage but overall it is sound.
The body is excellent apart from one or two small rusting areas which will need welding. There is some bubbling along the rear wheel arch on one side and on the rocker panel, but this car is very, very solid and sound, underneath and above. We have lots of pictures to show the details, and we invite any inspection.
The car runs, drives, and shifts fine, and the brakes work well, even the handbrake. The parking pawl is not working, so that will need repair. Oil pressure is excellent, both cold and hot.
The paint does not look bad from fifteen feet away but it needs to be redone when the rust damage is addressed. Chrome is overall pretty nice but not perfect.
The car is 100 percent complete, including the jack and handle, factory toolbox with some tools and unused Michelin spare tire.
This car has been off the road for several years, so it would need recommissioning but it certainly represents an easy restoration or a fine driver with minimal servicing.
