1966 INTERNATIONAL LOADSTAR 1600 6X6
This is a government issue International 4x4 (6x6) truck. These are very heavy duty trucks. This truck is in very good used condition. These have twin-stick transfer cases. One stick is to engage the 4x4, the other is to choose from high or low. This truck does not have lockout hubs, but they are not hard to find used. It will run in 2wd anyways, but the lockout hubs allow you to disengage the front axle shafts like a pickup with manual hubs. These old internationals have become very popular for custom builds. They have the rounded classic sheetmetal. The larger wheelwells allow for large 4x4 type tires, or semi truck 22.5 or 24.5 tires. You can get a variety of wheel sizes in the 6-lug budd wheel bolt pattern. You can get aluminum supersingles as well. Clear title in my name. I have more pics I can send. I've included a few pics of other trucks on here. My truck is the white one with the flatbed.
MECHANICALThis truck has the original six cylinder. The motor does not turn over. I pulled the spark plugs and sprayed penetrating oil in the cylinders. I took the truck out of my shop before I got a chance to see if I could get the engine to turn over. I never planned to keep the six cylinder in it. I had a 12-valve cummins which I was planning to use in it. I sold that engine and then planned to put an international gas V8 in this truck. If you want, I can include that engine. It is a 304 that came out of a travelall. It ran perfect with no smoking and no blowby. I can secure it on a pallet and secure that to the flatbed for transport. The transmission and clutch work as they should. The transfer case does also. I bought a new master cylinder for the brakes but have not installed it. The clutch and/or parking brake work fine for loading.BODY
The body is in very nice condition. That, and it being a 4x4, is why I bought it. There is no visible rust-thru, and I've been all over it and under it. The doors and hood function as they should. No dents but maybe a couple tiny dings. The paint actually looks like it will buff out. The flatbed is 14' long. It can hold 3.5 cords of wood if you loaded it level to the top of the racks. I guess you could about double that with 8' racks. I can remove the flatbed if you have something different planned for your build. It's easier to ship as a cab/chassis, if you don't intend on using the flatbed. The windshield is cracked but usable. New ones are readily available. Some of the flat glass is cracked. That is cheap and easy to replace.
INTERIOR
The interior is in clean original condition. There is not much in the way of interior in these. The seat feels fine. I didn't look under the seat cover to see if it was cracked or worn. The factory floormat is in good shape. Dash is in good shape. Gauge area all looks good.
OVERALL
This is an excellent truck to start with for a restoration, or just get it running and use as-is.
This old truck is sold as-is. Thank you. Please read payment instructions well.
