1987 Honda CRX CRX Si Additional Info:

For sale is my 1987 Honda CRX Si in good driving and running condition. A lot of work and new parts have gone into this car. The CRX Si has one of the first Honda EFI engines and runs really well with good compression, no smoke, and no leaks! The car has the following new parts:- Rebuilt cylinder head with all new seals - engine builder receipts are available- timing belt- water pump- spark plugs- plug wires- vacuum advance timing control- battery- oil pan gasket- valve cover gasket- all aluminum radiator- oil change- transmission fluid change- all new coolant
Transmission shifts smoothly and the clutch has a lot of life left. It goes into and out of gear smoothly.
Tires are older but have good tread. Car dives smoothly with no vibrations.
Interior is in OK condition overall. No missing pannels or interior issues that I am aware of. The seat are worn, but not terrible for the age. See pictures for details.
Overall, the car drives smoothly and is a great car for that Honda fan, or someone looking for a 40+ mpg commuter car!
This is also a 37 year old car too, so it has some surface rust as pictured on the hood and sunroof panel. It also has cracked plastic body panels too. The nice thing is, these are all still available if the new owner wants to fully restore it. It could also be driven as-is, or maybe even the "rat rod" approach works too. Light weight race car? Endless opportunities for this chassis. Either way, this car is a solid running and driving car!
There is NO rot. Only surface rust as pictured. This is a solid straight chassis which provides the new owner with a number of options as I mentioned above.
The rear hatch glass broke at some point in its life and was replaced with a "racing" plexiglass window. This could be replaced with glass, but the plexiglass works too.
Known issues:- cracked windshield- surface rust on the hood and a couple other places (see pictures)- muffler and exhaust has holes in it (really needs a new one, but they don't make them anymore)- tape deck doesn't work - yes I typed tape deck!- no air-conditioning
Why am I selling? What do I do?
- I'm a Honda guy. I love working on and seeing these cars on the road 35+ years later after they left the dealership. I found this one that needed significant engine work to get it going and saved it from being trashed at a junk yard. I like giving these cars a second chance and then offering my cars to other fans of Hondas. This is a hobby of mine. I'm not a dealer or a mechanic, but a Honda enthusiast that has owned and worked on over 20 Honda cars over the years. I'd keep this in my collection if I had the space, but I don't. So that's why it's being offered up for sale.
