RARE 4-SPEED LOW MILEAGE 1988 HONDA CIVIC HATCHBACK $2500 OBO RARE 4-SPEED LOW MILEAGE
1988 HONDA CIVIC HATCHBACK MANUAL TRANSMISSION 1.5 LITER ENGINE ~182,000 miles $2500 OBO Recent maintenance: New Optima Yellow Top Battery. New timing belt 2008 (drove it very little since then). New alternator. Newer spark plugs, wires, and valve cover gaskets. New console and speed sensor. New water pump. Turbo muffler and new belts in 2007. New tires on front replaced in the beginning of ’08. All repair records. Tinted all windows. I'm selling it because I don't drive it very much. Very fuel efficient vehicle, gets ~25/38 miles per gallon town/highway. Good work car, first car, student car, or basic point A-to-B transportation. This durable reliable car runs like a champ, 1.5 Liter engine, drives like an Si due to increased air intake and custom turbo muffler. Fun to drive! 4-Speed requires minimal maintenance. Starts up every time. Very fun to work on! change parts, customize. Repairs done by expert mechanics. I’m a responsible student owner for over 12 years. I bought it in 1997, and I gave this car proper maintenance, timely oil changes, and drove it on a road tour from Tallahassee to San Diego, then to LA, then to Seattle, then all the way back to Florida! Hondas are known to last well into 250-300k+ mileages and beyond and most cars of this year have as much.
No AC or radio. Like I said, basic A-to-B transportation. A few quirks and blemishes, mostly cosmetic. Some rust here and there. Some dents. Right side door has a dent, back bumper has slight crease. Driver side window is offtrack. You'll hear the right front wheel bearing case vibrates annoyingly, it's been like that for years. It's a cheap part, just hard to get to. Back tail fin is removed. Back hatch spring latch needs repair. *note: Hatch Door needs to be securely sealed (important to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning) or else drive with the windows open.Driver’s side door handle and small outside panel needs repair, driver side door won't lock from outside, must be entered from passenger side when locked. A $700 Water Pump and Timing Belt Repair was done in 2008. So the few repairs it needs: front left CV boot axle, front bearings, oil leak (valve cover/ oil pan gaskets), could use some tires soon. If you have a mechanic buddy, Dad, uncle, brother or sister, you could probably do this cheaply as a project (it might even be fun.) You will love this car! I still drive it around town to run errands! If I don't get a good offer I'll just keep it and keep getting good use out of it! This car still has lots of mileage left in it! If you have mechanical skills you can fix much of this, or replace/upgrade parts to your liking. Mechanically, it runs very good. Engine purrs actually. I'm selling it because I hardly drive it. It's still a good car! Rough around the edges but still a great subcompact economy gas mileage car! I'm only the 3rd owner, bought it from a family, it was the grandmother's car.
