During the course of the summer 2019 a full mechanical reconditioning was performed (See below for details). Only two previous owners, original Honda sales brochure, original Honda storage cover! Reportedly, this car has only had two prior owners. The first owner purchased the car new in 86 and traded it in in 88. The second owners owned the car for 24 years! This car is one of the few left that is still in all stock condition. No engine mods, no stickers, no suspension mods, all original, with the exception of the radio and door speakers.
This 1986 is Capitol Blue with matching blue interior, and is in overall very good condition. The carpet is nice, with wear on the drivers side, the seats are generally good with the typical thinning on the shoulder area from sun exposure. It has had a respray at some point in it's past, and the paint has a great luster as it was treated to a 4 step paint restoration. It was not wet sanded, but a complete compound, polish, swirl remover and wax treatment. There is no body rust, the rear quarters have no rust, the front fenders and nose panel are not cracked.Vehicle has been completely and thoroughly serviced during the summer of 2019, using available oem and NOS oem parts whenever and wherever possible:
Fuel system: Tank was drained, fuel lines flushed, primary and secondary fuel filters replaced. Carb was "cleaned". Carb was not removed due to oem parts/gasket availability, but carb top was removed and all the accessible/removable jets were cleaned, carb bowl was cleaned, and needle seat O-rings were replaced.
Tune up: Plugs, cap, rotor and wires had been recently replaced, verified all good. Installed new battery. Adjusted valve lash, replaced air filter, changed engine oil and filter. Replaced timing belt, timing belt tensioner pulley, water pump, alternator, alternator belt, A/C belt, thermostat replaced, cooling system flushed and refilled. Cooling fan thermo-switch replaced. Transmission fluid drained and replaced. The exhaust was new when purchased in 2012, not oem.
Brakes: Rear wheel cylinders rebuilt, drums sandblasted and turned, new shoes and hardware kits installed. Front brake calipers rebuilt, pads and rotors were new when purchased in 2012. Brake fluid flushed and bled.
Misc items: Many, many, many little items were addressed to make this little CRX stand out! Washer hoses from tank to hood replaced with honda OEM hose. Cowl clips replaced. Lug nuts replaced. Wheels sand blasted and painted. Wiper arms repainted and wiper blades replaced. Roof gutters stripped and refinished. Every bulb was checked and replaced as necessary. Misc hardware, nuts, bolts, washers etc. replaced as possible with new oem items or as-oem style. Missing battery hold-down replaced with new oem parts. New Honda chrome tailpipe tip was installed (yes, they're still available from Honda). The car was gone through with a fine tooth comb and everything was made as "right" as could be, replacing clips, screws, fasteners, etc to make it perfect, without getting too crazy.Virtually every mechanical component on the car has been touched and verified to be in perfect or near perfect working order.Tires were replaced by Ebay seller in 2012 They have literally 100 miles on them so have plenty of tread, however have some sidewall cracks due to storage time.
Included with sale is original owners manual, original 1986 sales brochure, full Honda service manual and electrical trouble shooting guide. Also, an original Hondaline car cover is included. It is in very good condition with a few marks, but not dirty or torn. These covers have sold for $500 alone on eBay.
This is a great example of a unmolested 1st Gen CRX, with a very rare automatic transmission and dealer installed A/C that still blows cold air!. While 1st Gen production numbers are unknown, I can attest that auto trans cars were few and far between. The car runs and drives absolutely great! I hope someone that appreciates the old Honda's will purchase it with the intent of keeping it as-is. If you used to own one of these back in the day, or wished you had, here is your chance to re-live the 80's!
Ask any questions you may have, I will respond promptly. More pictures and video available upon request.
Willing and able to help arrange shipping. With a fresh set of tires, I would drive this car anywhere! On Sep-13-19 at 03:28:36 PDT, seller added the following information:
A question was raised about the "Not actual Mileage" flag on the history report. Based on my research, and the information from the seller of the car in 2012, the car was re-titled in 2004. At that time the DMV noted the title application as "Not Actual", most likely due to the age of the vehicle (Michigan doesn't even list the mileage on titles on vehicles over 10 years old). The error was discovered in 2012 when the vehicle was donated to a charity auction, but due to the error being made 6+ years earlier it could not be corrected. However if you track the mileage events, it was listed at 78,345 on 4/10/2000 during an emissions test, 81,228 during an emissions test on 04/22/2002 and 81,856 when titled/registered on 01/28/2003. Based on the condition of the vehicle, the mileage history, and the report given to me in 2012, I have no reason to believe the mileage displayed to be incorrect and the "not actual mileage" to be anything other than a clerical error during a registration process. I believe that upon inspection, it will be obvious that the mileage, as displayed on the odometer, is an actual, true mileage for this car.
