1989 Honda CRX Si Additional Info:
Unmolested 1989 Honda CRX Si. 102,000+ miles. The interior is in near perfect condition. A nos shift knob and your friends will think it is a new car. All body panels are factory straight. No accidents. An excellent article by Automobile magazine about the 1988-1991 Honda CRX Si can be found online. This is an excerpt:
"There’s something refreshing about a sports car as pure and simple as the CRX Si....As a result, the CRX and especially the Si became adored and prized by the burgeoning import tuner crowd. As a result, it’s genuinely difficult to find a bone-stock CRX Si like this that hasn’t been savaged beyond recognition. You can’t help but embrace how wonderful a bare-bones and untainted, vintage Honda sports car feels in 2016. “This car is 30 years old, and it functions the way I wish most new cars did,” says owner Steve Ewing.Ergonomically, the CRX Si is spectacular; the seating position is perfectly low and intimate with the road, and the switchgear maintains its pleasant analog clack with each push. Despite its compact dimensions, the cockpit feels perfectly adequate for two passengers. Visibility is stupendous thanks to skinny A-pillars, a low dashboard with a broad windshield, and a huge sloping rear window. There’s a handy shelf where the rear seats would be, but in typical Honda fashion, it folds cleverly into a storage area with a pair of cubbies on the sides. We can’t help but geek out over little details like the icons for the trunk release and gas cap, which can still be found in today’s Hondas."
This car was listed a year ago. The winning bidder disappeared after one email, so it is going back up. This is a project car. A project for you, not for me, unfortunately. The car needed some TLC eleven years ago, at the same time my son turned 16 and started making noises about learning on and driving the car. This is not a car in which a 16-year-old should learn to drive. At the same time my mother-in-law gave us her four-door Accord, since she could no longer drive. A much better car for a family of four. So it was a good time to put it in storage and cancel the insurance until I had time to invest in the car. At this point it is obvious that time is not going to come so it should go to someone who can give it the attention it deserves. I am the second owner. I purchased the car with 6,000 miles on it. It was driven into the barn eleven years ago and has not been started since. The battery, although disconnected, is long dead. The tires should not be driven on. At the time it was driven into the barn everything functioned.I did not clean the car before taking photos so you see what you are going to get. It has been cleaned since so you will be getting a much prettier car than what is pictured.I am not willing to try to turn the engine over at this point in case the crankshaft is frozen. So it is bring a trailer, in the literal sense. It needed a new exhaust eleven years ago. Other than that everything mechanical worked perfectly. You can see the quarter-sized rust spot on the forward edge of the passenger rear wheel well. The samespot is on the driver's side. It also has pine sap damage all over the exterior paint. After my previous experience, anon-refundable $100.00 deposit will be required within 24 hours of auction end this time. Payment can be in cash or bank check at time of pick up. This auction will end June 20, so it will be ready for pickup the weekend of June 22 or 23.
