1979 Honda Civic CVCC Additional Info:
This car had one owner until about a year ago. This is the last year of the first generation Civic. The owner did whatever his mechanic told him to do and I have an inch-thick pile of receipts for all of it, including engine, transmission, and suspension rebuild. Original paint in excellent shape. Very well done new upholstery and carpet. The only part that is not original is the carb, though the original carb is included in the sale as well as a few other parts. This car was economical but they also did well in SCCA racing in earlier years. This is the higher end CVCC model with a higher displacement engine and more horsepower. It used stratified charge combustion chamber technology to avoid having a power-robbing catalytic converter. The CVCC also has the upmarket 5 speed compared to 4 speed on the regular Civic and it includes a tach, though the tach does not work. This car is basic transportation at its best, it even came with a manual choke. The AM radio works fine, the car runs, drives, stops, and handles like a zippy little sports car, it reminds me a lot of the Fiat Spider I used to own. If you're thinking about one of these cars, you have to be very careful to buy one with no hint of rust. There's nothing hidden on this beauty.
Parts are not readily available for this car so if you're considering buying one that's in rough shape, prepare to spend a lot of time and money getting it into this condition. Or just buy one that's already in this condition. I've always bought cars to drive and enjoy and maintain rather than to restore.
I've owned some cool cars over the years and this car might get the most thumbs up of any. Young people like it because Civics are popular with tuners. Old people like it because they haven't seen one in decades.
These cars are almost impossible to find in this condition.
