1990 Honda Prelude 2.05 Si ALB Additional Info:
This is a desert-survivor, 1990 Honda Prelude 2.05 Si ALB. I bought this car from an auction in Phoenix, AZ last year and kept it in storage through winter. According to the AutoCheck, it lived its entire life in Arizona. I have been working on Hondas for about 20 years and this Prelude is one of my favorite cars they produced.
This car is in unbelievable condition with no rust, and no accidents. This car has all original paint (yes, even the bumpers). No work was done on the body except a detail. The AutoCheck lists it as a theft recovery, which is accurate.Because it was purchased from an insurance company, Ohio requires the title to be branded as "rebuilt" even though the car was not in an accident.
When I purchased it, it had a broken rear window, and a missing center console. The original key comes with it, and it works all locks and ignition. Owners manual, spare tire, tool roll and jack are all there. When I bought the car,Ireplaced the rear window and center console, detailed it, installed four new tires, replaced the timing belt, performed a full tune-up and some mechanical work, and converted the AC to R-134A.Overall, there are some chips, and a few dings, but it was definitely taken care of by its previous owner.
It currently has 163,905 miles, with the timing belt replaced at 163,600 with a genuine Honda belt. In addition to the work above, I also installed new front brakes and rotors, a new Denso alternator, new Bando drive belts, new battery, spark plugs, air filter, rear upper and lower control arms, inner and outer tie rod ends, and changed all fluids (transmission, brake, power steering, coolant, oil, filter).
The Prelude is an absolute blast to drive. It sits low to the ground, handles corners with ease, and has a very connected feel to it. The automatic transmission shifts flawlessly and is geared perfect for sporty driving, and performance. The engine is smooth and powerful and revs throughout its entire range effortlessly. This Prelude comes from a time when Japan was awash with money, and no expense was spared for its engineering and reliability.
Items that need attention: The anti-lock braking system does not work (light is on), the left taillight has a crack, and the driver's seat (bolster) and rear seat bottom have some separating fabric (see photos).
