1989 Honda Civic DX Additional Info:

I bought this car new but haven't driven it much over last 15 years due to having to utilize my pick-up on daily basis. It gets started and run a bit, I'vehad it 60 mile round trips afew times in last couple months, so it's not a stale engine.I think it would be a great little car for someone who likes to tinker and detail because it still drives strong and tight and was never abused mechanically. It has a couple steady quirks. Due to the nature ofits age and all, I am selling it "where is, how is, as is" with no warranties stated norimplied.

Those of you who know this model and engine know what it is capable of and howfun they are to drive. I used to get up to 45 mpg but 99% of my driving was long distance commutes of 60 miles plus and trips CO to CA to CO and very little city driving.

Photos can be taken of anything you might be interested in knowing, eBay only allowed 24.

Couple of upholstery issues due to wear getting in and out of drivers seat, and a new puppy trying out a good chew on passenger seat; otherwise a few spots that will probably clean up. Some of my photos really show the dirt/dust but I am just short on time these days to detail the car.

Couple of places where surface rust is showing and I uploaded photos.

Tires have good tread.

Photos showing fender which was replaced on drivers side due to being smashed in by a buck chasing does.Months later, afriend helping usleft the car out of gear and let itroll into a fence postand bent up the replacementfender, tried to hide it and caused more damage by trying to fix it beforewe knew. At that point, 15 years ago, I gave up on repairing it again. White paint on fenderdoesn't match, side turn-signal marker light doesn't attach anymore etc.

Against my usual habits, I did not go steam wash the engine so you could see there isn't a bunch of leaks spraying anywhere. The car lives in dusty roads country so everything is dusty!

The quirks: two that I recognize but don't bother me. One) When I take off out my driveway on to the highway, the car runs rough for almost exactly 4.5 miles, then studders a couple seconds, then the check engine light comes on, and thenit smooths out and runs like a champ.I am guessing it is a sensor but I amseveral hours from a Honda dealer so I don't fix it. Two) Every odd once and a while, when you turn the key, it doesn't start, it just turns over. Sometimes if you pull the key out and put it back in, it starts just like normal.Sometime if you walk away and comeback in a while, it starts just like normal. In otherwords, I don't have to do anything but give it time andthe next time, it starts normal. Again, I don't have a clue nor the time to figure it out.

When I bought the car new, I bought thick heavy cottonbath rugs for the floors and towels for the seats; thathas kept them in pretty nice shape for a almost 30 year old car. First flat I had, I tossed the mini-spare and replaced it with a full-size Honda rim and good spare; never had a flat again. Also, back in the day before code readers, Ialways bought and carrieda realservice manual to keep in the trunk so that most any import shop on the road could get me going if needed. I made a lot of long distance trips by myself and never wanted to be stuck. Never needed it for this car so Karma worked! For yourDIY'ers, the Honda Service Manual and full sizespare are still in the trunk.
