1941 Ford Other Woodie Woody Wagon Additional Info:
Up for your consideration is a beautiful example of Americannostalgiain this recently restored 1941 Ford Super Deluxe Woodie Wagon.
Before the station wagon became an icon of post-war suburban family life in America, it belonged to a different social class. The wood signified it was a working car, a utility vehicle for servants (although perhaps used for the occasional picnic or hunt) or as a livery for a country inn or yacht club. It then became an icon associated with the easy-going carefree life of the California surfer, which brings nostalgic emotions to many still today!
The Super Deluxe model is powered by a Model 59AB 85 bhp, 221 ci flathead V8 engine equipped with a 3-speed manual transmission, 2-speed Columbia rear end, solid front axle and live rear axle with transverse semi-ellipticleaf springs. This example was extensively restored in 1992, and again in 2015 which included a frame-off restoration, and still retains much of the original wood. This car appeared frequently in the 2014 WGN America original television series "Manhattan," a period drama about the development of the atomic bomb set in Los Alamos, NM. Upgrades include front disc brakes, working original AM radio, new upholstery, new tires/wheels, converted to 12 volt system, 3rd row seat (not pictured).
If you have always felt a special magnetism towards these American Classics, you certainly should not pass up an opportunity to finally own a great one.
