1935 Ford Tudor Slantback Sedan
This incredible example of rolling artwork stands tall amongst all of the most beautiful street rods in the world. An ISCA international class champion, the car is the creation of rod builder Mike DiMatteo, known for his exceptional craftsmanship in Santa Rosa, California. Constructed in 1994, this phenomenal hot rod Ford has just 2200 miles on the odometer and it is impeccable, flawless in every detail, and the bright red paint, sparkling brightwork, and rich leather interior are as nice as the day it made its debut on the show circuit.
The engine is a 355 CID Chevy small block. Atop the block is a polished supercharger with dual Holley carburetors. This engine room looks more like a jewelry counter at Tiffany’s there is so much gleam and shine from the powder coated, chrome plated and polished surfaces. Behind the estimated 700 hp mill, the transmission is a TH400 box, polished and built to withstand the awesome power this car makes. The undercarriage is as shiny as the rest of the car, all major components chrome plated and polished. A Corvette independent rear suspension gets the power to the big rear tires, and 4 wheel power disk brakes ensure safe, smooth stops.
The luxurious leather interior in this slantback Ford is the handiwork of Santana Interiors. This one of a kind cabin includes electric power bucket seats up front, and a rear seat that could be the focal point of a showcase home. A power sun roof, power windows, air conditioning, and concert hall quality sound system with top shelf amplifiers hidden behind the rear seat. Custom taillight treatment, custom made bumpers, Boyd Coddington alloy rims, tasteful beauty line graphics, bronze tinted glass all add to the stunning presentation of this show car.
The 1935 Ford is intrinsically unique, a model year that transitioned from the boxy looking 33/34 models to the more rounded profile of the 36/37 models. The swoopy profile of the slantback tudor sedans has made them a popular choice for hot rods for decades. The custom treatment of this particular car includes more than a hundred details that make it a hallmark vehicle that would be the crown jewel of any collection. Even better, it is a solid, dependable ride that is surprisingly gentle to drive, despite its potentially violent power.
