This Mach 1 is truly amazing if not for its great looks but for its staggering amount of options. Many of these were factory options and several have been added. When it comes to the wish list, this car checks just about all the boxes Ford had for the Mustang. When comparing this car to other Mach 1’s, take a good look at both their option content and their condition. This is a VERY highly optioned Mustang in Great condition. ?
To start off with, the Mach was produced on April 24th in San Jose for deliver to City Ford in Los Angeles, CA on Pasadena Ave. Every collector prizes the San Jose produced cars, especially the cars delivered to California safely away from the salted roads the East coast in mid west states. The body on this Mach 1 is in good condition with a nice coat of Candy Apple Red paint. The panels line up well and the paint has a deep gloss. The chrome trim and aluminum panels all show very well. The Rear Window Louvers appear correct and combined with the front & rear spoilers give this car an aggressive look. This one is easily nice enough for weekend shows, cruises and as a sunny day driver.
Inside the interior looks great with very nice upholstery, carpet, dash & trim. Even the factory chrome on the instrument & clock bezels is in good condition. All of the factory instrumentation works properly including the tachometer, speedometer and clock. Everywhere you look inside the options abound. Things like the Fold Down Rear Seat, Tilt Steering Column, Center Console and more let you know you are not in a base Mach 1.
Under the hood, or actually poking through it, is a 351 Cleveland 4V complete with Quench Heads and a Shaker Ram Air Induction System. It has seen a few upgrades like the Edelbrock Performer Aluminum Intake Manifold, Holley Street Avenger Carburetor, Performance Camshaft, BOSS 302 Valve Covers and Performance Exhaust. The engine sounds great and revs smooth & freely. The engine compartment has been nicely detailed and features a rare ‘S’ Tube for the heat riser.
The Factory Air Conditioning System is complete and functions nicely. This is a hugely important option and really has displaced the 4 speeds as our most requested option with our customers.
The 4 Speed is a nice Toploader unit with the correct Hurst Linkage and shift knob. It has the correct Reverse Ignition Lock Out function in place so the car has to be in Reverse in order to get the key out of the ignition.
The Factory Power Steering & Power Disc Brakes are highly prized options that really make a difference in the way these cars drive & are enjoyed. Add in the Factory Competition Suspension and you have a very capable driver that handles corners flat, brakes well and is a breeze to drive.
The Magnum 500’s are 15” units that fit the car perfectly. The larger tire on th rear really gives the car a nice stance. The tires are Cooper Cobras with only a handful of miles on them. They fill up the wheel wells nicely and look great.
