DESCRIPTION:

1970 Ford Mustang convertible powered by a 351-cu. in. Windsor V-8 and backed by the Ford-O-Matic FMX 3-speed automatic transmission and 8” rear differential with 2.75:1 (open) gears. The Mustang is a great “head turner”, very reliable, and fun to drive. The owner purchased the car approximately 13 years ago and over that time made several upgrades.

These include power rack & pinion steering, new front suspension parts, shocks, 4-wheel power disc brakes, new gas tank, fuel lines, sending unit, fuel pump, FlowMaster dual exhaust, and Dakota Digital dash with an AM/FM/Bluetooth stereo.

Originally, the Mustang came with a 351 cu in Cleveland engine with a 2-barrel carburetor. The Windsor engine has a 750-cfm Holley carb, HEI ignition, Edelbrock intake manifold, PowerMaster alternator, and high torque starter. The owner does not know when the engine was installed or rebuilt, but it sounds like it has a mild hydraulic cam.

The black enamel paint and white interior with a white top were not the original colors of the car. Apparently one of the previous owners did the color change. The body and floors are solid with no bubbling or rust evident, but both rear lower quarter panels and partial rocker panels show evidence of some bodywork. The glass and power top are in excellent condition. All the exterior lights, turn signals, and brake lights function.

The interior was changed from the original medium blue to a nice custom black & white with the Mustang logo in the head rest of each seat. The black & white theme continues with the dashboard and carpeting. There appears to be no broken seams or tears in the vinyl upholstery, but the painted door panels show a little wear. Windows roll up and down easily.

The suspension is stock except for the power rack & pinion steering and 4-wheel disc brakes. The floors are solid as well as the rear torque boxes. Wheels are 14” Magnum 500’s with 215/70R/14 B.F. Goodrich radial tires.

The exact mileage on the build is unknown and the owner estimates driving 20,000 miles during the years he owned it. Please note that this Mustang does not have A/C and did not come from the factory with it either.
