1969 Ford F250 4x4 Highboy

Sold new in California in the summer of '69...
This factory Highboy was delivered in Cordova and Wimbledon White paint, in the early 1970's it was converted to a wrecker and painted in this insanely wild panel paint job. I can see old lettering that reads it was located in Redding California before being moved to Weaverville Ca. It served out of the Weaverville Garage until about 2016 when the owner/operator passed away and his business and its assets were sold.

I've owned over a dozen of these era trucks and this one is by far the best running and driving unrestored truck I've driven. Everything operates as it was intended to. The factory 360 V8 fires up immediately and settles into a well tuned idle. The steering is true and straight and the drum brakes work great. The odometer shows just over 70k miles and based on how it drives I would say the mileage is original. Shifting into 4x4 is smooth and effortless. ALL of the exterior lights work including the original orange siren and the backup spotlights. Cluster lights and interior lights work and the heater works great. The radio does not work. The early Warn Winch on front (made by Bellview) needs new cables to operate. The rear unit is a Braden chain driven PTO unit that works great. The bed of the truck is remarkably stout and was built by the Brownebilt Body & Wrecker Company in Emeryville Ca.
This is NOT a tired worn out truck that needs a restoration. It has been well maintained as this machine was a large part of a working mans livelihood. I would not hesitate to drive this truck anywhere. These factory 4x4 trucks were rare when they were new and were typically hammered on over the years as they were purpose built. This truck has its dents and dings but overall presents very well considering its past life. If I were to keep it I would swap out the grill and put the factory side trim back on the driver side. As far as rust there really is no rot, this is a very dry truck that has been in California since new.
