1965 Ford Mustang GT Convertible Additional Info:
This 1965 Ford Mustang GT Convertible is an ultra-desirable A-code car with a terrific color combo, four-on-the-floor, an A/C interior, and plenty of V8 power. So if you love a pony car that was really made to enjoy driving, you know this is the one you've been waring for.
Wimbledon White is a true icon of the Mustang scene, and so it's nice to see a proper glossy finish on drop-top. But while this brilliant white would give a convertible a sunny disposition, this does it better with a hint of sinister sports car attitude courtesy of the GT package elements. The sporty style is especially noticed on the correct and distinct rocker stripe finished in a bold red. And it looks extra cool with the addition of double redline tires. And we all know there are more GT-specific elements you need to get it looking right. This one has the fog lights in the grille, GT emblems on the fenders, styled steel wheels, and dual trumpet exhaust pipes coming through the rear valence. So while it takes some original paperwork to definitively prove GT, this one has all the right elements to call it one with confidence. More than just the sporty appeal, it also has quality in the details - from well-done gaskets, to the shine of the form-fitting chrome bumpers.
The white roof has a nice look that almost makes this pass for a coupe. But with the flip of a switch, it powers down to reveal a full black interior. It's hard to find a more attractive color combo than the well-contrasted black and white, so this one's total color package looks quite nice with the roof down. And you'll appreciate the quality presentation inside, right down to the details, like the newer seat upholstery. Plus, you have some well-integrate upgrades. The radio has the classic knob-style appearance, but it's a modern AM/FM digital tuner with a CD changer and aux input for your iPod. And the classic-style air conditioner is a later upgrade that's blowing cold with modern R134a. These mean you get the best driving music and get to stay cool even top-down in the summertime. So if this is starting to sound like a nice driver's classic, then you'll really love features like the center console w/floor shift, grippy three-spoke steering wheel, and GT-correct round gauge package. Plus, you might have also noticed the desirable Rally Pac that includes the handy tach.
Under the hood is a terrific presentation. This was born an A-code car, so you get a correct displacement 289 cubic-inch V8 with an upgraded Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor on top. It has nice look with the polished valve covers, matching air topper, and crisp components. The V8 fires up nicely and makes an addictive sound out of the Flowmaster dual exhaust. Because this is true driver's car, it also has the right features, like a four-speed manual transmission, power steering, modern BF Goodrich tires, and front disc brakes.
