It's a model so endlessly cool that when it was first introduced it gave rise to its own automotive niche, the personal luxury car. This 1955 Ford Thunderbird is in great shape in all respects - its curb appeal is undeniable and its drivetrain, which almost certainly features entirely original components, is functioning flawlessly to provide an outstanding vintage driving experience. <BR. Having received a thorough and factory correct restoration in the past, this '55 proudly wears... its original Raven black color. The paint has a nice consistent shine and as you circle the car you'll find no waviness to indicate that any issues lie beneath the surface, while at the same time finding that the exterior alignment is top notch - the body panels really blend together well. Classy and compact, this T-Bird is an excellent representative for the model in its original, two-seater form. Not only is that jet black paint in great shape, but from the fresh-looking front bumper with its double bullet ornamentation on back to the rear taillights, the chrome exterior fittings and trim all present really well. Like any vintage drop top, it's especially appealing in open-air configuration, but when that's not practical, you'll have two options for protection: a well-fitted black canvas convertible top and a body-colored removable hardtop. That two-tone black and white interior on display may have a decidedly custom look to it, but it's in fact the same color scheme this T-Bird thrilled car buyers with when it was released. You can see right away that this classic has been securely sheltered for most of its existence - despite being a UV-sensitive convertible, downthere's no sun damage anywhere. The 4-way power bench seat spanning the width of the interior functions just as intended and looks great - it's well padded and wrinkle free, with off-white accents that look very clean as they mirror the original door panels to each side. Both the steering wheel sitting on its telescoping column and the textured trim ornamenting the dash area just beyond it are not only in their original configuration, but have been in place ever since this '55 went into service - and they really look impressive. The functionality is there to match, as all the gauges on board are clear and in good working order. In back, the trunk area is well-detailed, with clean black fabric covering both its floor and the full size spare sitting inside. The steam-cleaned appearance of the 292 cubic inch V8 inside the engine compartment pairs well with its vintage authenticity - this is likely the same powerplant that's been in place all along. It's in very strong running condition, still firing up promptly and pulling with gusto. It wears sharp branded valve covers and sits surrounded by fresh hoses and clean wiring in a tidy engine compartment. Behind it is a 3-speed automatic transmission in matching condition to round out a solid drivetrain. This icon left the factory with power steering and power brakes installed - fairly rare options in its day - and both features are in top form, so the road-readiness of this classic is beyond dispute. A set of 15" Kelsey Hayes wire wheels that are in outstanding condition and wear period-correct whitewall tires completes the look of this beloved automotive icon in just the right style. Representing one of the most pivotal models ever to roll off an assembly line, this 1955 Ford Thunderbird's outstanding curb appeal and rock-solid running condition really make it a standout.
