1931 Ford Model A Pickup Additional Info:

1931 Ford Model A Pickup

The Ford Model A was a huge success for the Ford Motor Company and is the first car that comes to mind when many think of early American steel. It single handedly spawned Americas love affair with trucks and laid the foundation for what would become one of the bestselling vehicles of all time.

For consignment a rodded Ford Model A pickup truck from 1931. No rust, just nice panels of straight steel, shiny chrome, and plenty of 1931 pickup truck class. A newer 350ci V8, and a consigner stated 300hp engine to push it along and not fool around. Check out the new interior, press down the gas, and you will soon be haulin'...ass

Exterior
Yes, it's a 1931 Ford pickup, but with its straight exterior steel cab panels, all rust free, and looking much like the original as it would have appeared in 1931, we note consistent gaps, and little fault with it overall. Nice blue paint covers the cab, as well as the bed. Without the side curtains, the cowled hood is straight and true, and covers the engine, which can still be viewed from the open sides. This runs forward and is fronted by a nicely re-chromed radiator cover and mesh grille. This has a V8 badge on it and the radiator cap is a flying goose motif. It is flanked by a single headlight on either side, sporting shiny bezels and rounded cases. Black fiberglass fenders are attached to the front and rear and are held together by a common running board with a metal Ford badged plate in the centers. Fenders are also very nice on the paint front, with no cracking seen. On the rear is the steel pickup tub. This blue box has been carefully lined with a solid oak stained bed and sides with a custom-built tool chest next to the cab upfront. Also, an aluminum bomb style fuel tank sits firmly within this bed. 15 inch polished 5 spoke Torque Thrust American Racing wheels are seen on all 4 corners, and add highlight to the dark blue motif.

Interior
A swing of the original doors and we see some nifty new broadcloth panels in tan with off white square patterning throughout. A window crank, door actuator and lever in nice chrome float within this broadcloth field. Turning our attention to the upwardly curved metal exterior matching blue dash, it now has some corresponding wood arches inserted into the top of this blue arc. Within the blue is a gaggle of round gauges, some billet style knobs and warning lights. Below to the drivers left are panels that contain toggles. A tilt adjustable steering column, and a small rally style wood rimmed billet style steering wheel fronts the dash. A long and soft broadcloth bench runs from door to door and presents in the same fabric as the door panels. This broadcloth also covers all the vertical interior surfaces and changes over to perforated broadcloth for the headliner. Up front, on top of the headliner is a handmade custom oak box that houses the digital aftermarket AM/FM/CD player. Floors are covered with nice brown carpet, and an added bit of class is in the form of an etching of a flower and some flourish in the glass.

Drivetrain
A consigner stated 350ci crate engine in V8 format graces the restored open to the air engine bay. It's able to be viewed with ease as it is simply beautifully done with its silver headers, chromed Edelbrock valve covers, alternator, and matte aluminum scoop and intake manifold. No rust, a new electric radiator fan, and stainless ribbed hoses are the norm under here as well. This mill is topped with a single 4-barrel Holley carb, and backed up by a TH350 3-speed automatic, and way back is a Ford 9-inch posi rear.

Undercarriage
Simply swanky with turquoise rust-free painted wood and floorpans, rockers and under the running boards. This provides a nice background for the straight black steel frame also with not a hint of rust. Nice silver coil overs are on all 4 corners, a Heidt's front end with independent coil overs, and a 4 link with coil overs setup for the rear. Disc brakes are on all 4 corners, and sport Wilwood rear calipers. Magnaflow provides the flow through exhaust and awesome rumble this truck provides when running.

Drive-Ability
A very thunderous fire up, and I was excited to get my foot into this one and get to the test track. Here it gave me plenty of enjoyment with very good acceleration, excellent handling, and smooth shifting. It can also cruise and has the ever-present thunderous roar to the exhaust as you travel along. No squeaks or creaks, and it is hard to believe we are in a 1931 Model A modified skate. Also, worth mentioning all was working including those Wilwood rear calipers which brought me to an abrupt straight stop when needed.
