There is only one Boyd Coddington Bud Light Street Rod, and this 1936 Ford is the one and only. The roadster began its journey from concept to reality with a dozen drawings that were reviewed by Bud Light customer focus groups, who chose a roadster as their favorite. The Bud Light Roadster was created from a 1936 Ford Coupe that was modified into its current configuration in a dramatic six-week maelstrom of customization, fabrication and personal conflict in front of an audience of millions on the nationally televised “American Hot Rod” show. The roadster is powered by a built and balanced M&R Engine 383 CI small-block Chevrolet V-8 backed by a GM 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission. Tube headers, dual exhaust and an Edelbrock intake manifold topped with a 4-barrel carburetor help the engine develop 450 HP. The Boyd Coddington Pro Ride chassis is equipped with signature Boyd Coddington coilover front and rear independent suspension featuring a Corvette center section that channels throttle input to the rear wheels down to the ground. Upgraded 4-wheel disc brakes work with the independent suspension for a contemporary ride and road control. The media-blasted steel shell was fastened to a chassis jig and its coupe body was transformed with bracing and hand-formed custom sheet metal into a 1936 Ford Roadster. Countless hours of fabrication and leadwork later, the roadster body was outfitted with a Gabe Lopez custom-upholstered interior and then finished with more than six stages of deep Candy Blue paint topped with a hand-painted and pinstriped Bud Light graphic swoosh. The Bud Light Roadster rides on one-off 15-inch front and 17-inch Boyd Coddington alloy wheels with titanium-anodized centers and staggered-aspect-ratio Goodyear radial tires that take advantage of the independent suspension and lend the roadster its aggressive stance.
