1971 Ford Mustang Convertible,With just over 99,000 actual miles, this solid Mustang has been well cared for by its four documented owners from new, with only one repaint of the exterior in 1999. The vehicle runs exceptionally well, with very minor cosmetic blemishes such as a few small chips, convertible top normal wear and tear, expired analog clock, and small spot of paint fade on rear right quarter. However, It is a WONDERFUL cruising vehicle!
A well documented history on this Mustang. On October 2nd, 1970 and was sold new at Vincent Ford-Mercury in Cottonwood, Arizona on October 14th, 1970. The original owner only kept this car for the first two years, when its second owner took possession in 1973. He kept the vehicle in Phoenix through 1985 before bringing it to the St. Louis, MO area. In the late 1990s, the second owner installed new front seat upholstery and seat foams, convertible top, and the front chin spoiler. The third owner purchased the Mustang in September 2013, and subsequently sold it to the current owner in 2014.
Being a totally road ready driver, this Mustang took its fourth owner on a scenic adventure across Historic Route 66 in 2015 on Hagerty's Great American Tour! Following its journey across the country it was well-cared for in the southern New Hampshire area, being stored indoors and kept completely out of any New England weather and recently was relocated to the owner's winter home in Hilton Head, SC.
All available service records dating back to 1973 are included. Major maintenance included a transmission rebuild at 65,000 miles, new gas tank and fuel pump in 2002, new exhaust in 2013, new carburetor, new tires, heavy duty radiator in 2014. With full disclosure, this mustang was 'rear ended' in 1999 with damage to the left rear quarter and rear end (appx. $3000) The repairs were well done and that was the time the car was fully repainted.
All oil changes, coolant and transmission flushes, suspension components and alignments, and a new Holley 4V carb, have made this Mustang a totally road ready car! Also included is an original operations manual, maintenance booklet, registration paperwork supporting the original miles. An extra trolley jack, oil, and many spare parts are included as well, along with the color-keyed vinyl convertible boot cover and full vehicle protective cover. All factory driveline component tags are still present on this car. The only item that a new owner might want to replace is the top as it does show wear, but is fully functional as is. If you're looking for a great "20 footer", though good looking clos, that you can get out and drive on a road vacation, this is your car!
