1969 has been crowned the undisputed best year for the classic Mustang! Going head to head against some of Detroit’s major players was a challenge for the original pony car.

The small blocks that Chevy & Dodge released forced the Ford brass to quickly come up with a reply.

A screaming small block of their own was chosen to join the fight and made its debut (also used in the Shelby GT 350, Mach 1 & GT model) in 1969!

The best answer for war of course was the 351 Windsor. The motor instantly gained respect on the streets & elsewhere.

The 2 barrel (H-Code) had a performance punch that was honorable, however the next step up 4 barrel (M-Code) was noted in Car & Driver, Motor Trend and various other magazines as being the true Champion of the day!

An in house fight even ensued among Ford brothers who swore the M Code was even quicker and more nimble on its feet than the (S- Code Ford 390)!

The vehicle that you see pictured here is one such model that came equipped with the

M- Code option (presented in convertible trim).

Many things can be said about the vintage car that you see in the caption above. It is a head turning 2 owner vehicle that has spent its entire life in the heart of the Mid West! The original owner managed to hold onto it until he retired in 1990.

However after approximately twenty years of enjoyment he relinquished property rights.

When his grandson (who hoped to possess it one day) reluctantly listed it for sale “the next lucky gentleman stepped up to the plate”!

Once the changing of the guard took place a full blown restoration was initiated. A stellar accident free body made the painstaking process easier to complete so the fit & finish is praiseworthy!

Unfortunately a play by play can’t be given regarding its evolution.

“However, here is what we do know” the panels were stripped of the original lacquer material. Once this feat was accomplished the body was properly prepped to receive the new Viper red diamond base Tri-Coat material!

Although I have been called a harsh critic when it comes to judging vintage vehicles I don’t mind labeling this one a sheer KNOCK OUT!!!

You literally can’t take this baby out of the garage without camera cell phones taking pictures or people asking questions!

The exterior is smooth to the touch and dazzling in direct sunlight!

The FLAME RED exterior maintains a high gloss shine and mirror finish (free from various imperfections).

This 69 model lived a sheltered life so all of the cars body lines are very well balanced.

The gaps also seem to be in step with factory tooling specifications.

Many attributes make it a special / noteworthy classic.

It has been christened with a N.O.S Ford hood scoop and perfect set of sport mirrors!

Iconic 351 badges exclaim what’s under the lid!

Chrome accents are sprinkled throughout which speak of class and character. New N.O.S signature script can be easily detected along with a new running grille stallion. This Mustang also sports a pop open GT style fuel cap.

A pristine set of rocker panel moldings help to shield the base line from debris and stainless wheel well moldings do the same.

The front & rear bumpers have been replaced with new Ford sanctioned components.

Each side marker was replaced with NPD quality pieces.

From front to rear the hallmark of a meticulous restoration is evident & on display.

This RUBY RED beauty is covered by a perfectly suited raven black canvas top! It was replaced a few years ago and it still looks sharp.

No expense was spared when this operation took place all new hydraulic lines were also installed.

The convertible top pump was serviced along with the fluid that keeps it functioning.

Many individuals tend to neglect this very important process but failure to do so can cause immense & expensive problems later.

No worries here “all the hard work has been done for you”! The top lowers in an instant and works wonderfully.

Upon opening the door of this rag top you will find a stunning white parchment interior!

Elegant would be the word most would use to describe it. Ford really swung for the fences with the high line deluxe interior package!

Right out of the gate you will take notice of the textured seat upholstery with luxury buttons (very uncommon & seldom seen)!

The rear seat is likewise furnished with the same treatment.

A near flawless center console with walnut appointment can be found in between.

The steering wheel is show quality along with a perfect center emblem.

To further enhance the interior is a beautiful loop pile carpet & red embossed running pony floor mats!

A pair of excellent deluxe door panels (with wood grain inserts) can be identified once either is opened (yes the courtesy lights actually work)!

If you are thinking about purchasing an upscale convertible muscle car that stands out in the crowd “LOOK NO FURTHER”!

NOW NO MUSTANG CAN BE TRULY CONSIDERED A FREE RUNNING STALLION WITHOUT HAVING A FACTORY V/8. EVERYONE WANTS TO KNOW WHAT’S UNDER THE HOOD!

Although I admire the big block cars (they seem to be more than plentiful and most pricing points are unreasonable)!

I truly LOVE this little high reviving small block V/8 (quick & light on its feet)!

It’s a car that you can drop the top on and take that special someone with you.

Upon lifting the hood you will find a fleet of foot 351 (4 barrel} performance engine!

Amazingly the original “numbers matching block” only has been in service for ….. miles!

Even with the car running great at the time of the restoration a complete and totally rebuild was still executed.

The new specs pushed performance numbers & torque ratio values well over factory standards!

Impressive horse power was created by aid of utilizing Manley Scat steel internals!

A forged crank & rods were incorporated that really seem to give the car greater boost.

There is no doubt that this Mustang has a little more giddy up than she left Dearborn with (fun to drive)!

The cast iron intake still covers the engine hardware. Chrome valve covers & a stainless air cleaner help to provide a nostalgic look!

Although old fashioned power is sweet the importance of reliability can’t be ignored.

Dependability is a cinch here thanks in part to new plugs, wires, coil & voltage regulator.

The belts have been replaced along with both radiator hoses. An upgraded starter takes the place of the original one.

To top things off a new heavy duty aluminum radiator, water pump, fuel pump & thermostat was also installed!

If you want to cruise with confidence this is Mustang for you!

Many other new parts were replaced to keep it reliable as well.

Hardened valves seats have been incorporated so the vehicle can burn modern unleaded fuel efficiently “an important aspect that many fail to do”! No short cuts were taken.

The power steering equipment and suspension has all recently received a clean bill of health from a local restoration shop (references upon request).

An infectious growl trumpets out back through deep toned dual exhaust!

This car is simply thrilling to drive & total nostalgia is experienced every time the pedal is mashed!

LET’S LISTEN!!!

Tucked underneath each corner is a nostalgic magnum 500 wheel! All are hugged by classic BFG Goodrich radial T/A performance tires (looks incredible)!

The total set up gives it a bull dog aggressive stance! CONSTANT COMPLIMENTS!!!
