It's like an Art Deco display on wheels and is it ever running great! This 1940 Ford Pickup is a head-turner of the first order and its outstanding curb appeal pairs with a well-configured drivetrain made up of top quality components to make for an outstanding experience behind the wheel. It's the perfect weekend cruiser and offers plenty of rock solid drivability and comfort for more frequent outings. <BR. We enjoy seeing customization of all types, but it's... good to see a classic pickup like this one, displaying some outstanding touches of modification layered over a convincingly authentic foundation. This '40 features a really sturdy construction, made up almost entirely of steel and clad in a magnetic shade of orange that's sure to attract plenty of attention. There's a fine display of accenting chrome on board and all of it is in excellent shape - both the front and rear bumpers and the ornate front grille are stellar. The short bed configuration emphasizes this classic's appealing stoutness and pairs nicely with the cabin, which has been left unchopped and sports an array of clear windows surrounded by fresh rubber. A low-slung, slightly inclined stance confers just the right amount of customization, and the sizable wheelhouses both fore and aft leave enough wheel clearance for commonly encountered driving situations. There's quite an interior waiting beyond the doors, featuring a pair of adjustable tan leather buckets bracketed by matching door panels that tie in perfectly with the custom headliner. Beyond the woodgrain GT steering wheel sitting on a tilting column, a set of white-faced AutoMeter gauges are perfectly framed in a sharp polished aluminum dash bezel on the dash that's surrounded by smooth steel, with a tachometer on hand just below to monitor RPMS. An AM/FM/CD stereo has been seamlessly mounted in the headliner - a distinctive touch - and it teams with a set of kick panel speakers to fill the cab with sound. The added Vintage Air climate control system is functioning in top form to keep things nice and comfortable inside. Wood lined beds are a defining feature of the pickups from this era and the one on display here is a definite winner, with its well-prepped wooden planks interspersed with clean steel. This striking pickup is powered by a late-'60s era that's really running great. It's dressed with surrounding polished components and has been fortified with a number of top tier upgrades to increase its capabilities, including a pair of heads bearing 2.02 valves, an Edelbrock intake manifold and matching 4-barrel carb and a performance cam. This collection has logged very light mileage and is just now coming into its own, joining a 3-speed automatic TH350 transmission that was installed fewer than 5,000 miles back, while a Currie 9" rear end, known for its durability, rounds out the drivetrain. The engine exhales into a pair of headers terminating in a 2.5" Flowmaster dual exhaust, creating a deep, resonant note with just a tap on the accelerator. The Mustang II front end this classic rides on brings with it a whole host of benefits that markedly increase drivability, including a coilover suspension, tubular front control arms, power rack and pinion steering and power brakes. Factor in the TCI 4-link rear suspension and you have a vintage pickup that possesses an unusually smooth ride. A set of 15" American Racing Weld-style wheels wrapped with fresh rubber adds just the right finishing touch. <BR. A blast to drive and a joy to look at, this 1940 Ford Pickup is a definite "must see" for the classic truck enthusiast. Call today!
