1929 Ford Model A Additional Info:
What we have here is a 1929 Ford Closed Cab Pickup. An older amateur restoration done in 2002, I purchased this truck in east Texas in early 2018 and began a process to bring it back to roadworthiness. Some highlights:
BODY: All steel, and in nice rust-free condition. Cab is solid, as is the cab's floor, corners and doors, including door bottoms.Original Ford bed is solid as well. It showsevidence of some filler used to smooth 70+ years of wear and tear but looks fine and is very solid. Both doors open and close properly and lock as designed. Hood fit is good, as is the overall fit of the front and rear fenders and running boards. Truck is finished in a medium-dark blue, and appears to be a single stage acrylic, and has held up well for nearly 18 years.Paint is not perfect, but it shows very well. There are some blemishes and chips here andthere, and I will be glad to photograph anyupon a prospective buyers request.A photo is attached that shows where fuel had leaked at some point and degraded the paint on the passenger side valance, but there is no metal damage.Top is the proper cobra long grain pattern, and done very nicely.A tool box is fitted directly in front of the radiator, and includes a large array of tools, includingcrank and spares. All glass is fine. Decals on oak bedpanels are easily removable.
INTERIOR: Black vinyl, with padded door cards, and black cloth headliner.Standard '29 A setup on controls, with the addition of a water temp gauge and a wolf whistle - good clean fun!Speedometer functions fine, but should be rebuilt, as odometer numerals are worn. The original vacuum lines are included with the truck as is the vacuum motor for the wipers, but it is not hooked up. A hand-operated wiper is on duty currently. Two seat belt assemblies are installed.
DRIVE TRAIN: Engine was completely rebuilt in October 2018 by Schwanke Engines in Springfield, MN. Block was cleaned, shotpeened, and rebored - no sleeves. New pistons and rings were installed, as was a completely new valve train, and a touring camshaft. Ford crankshaft was reground, and fitted with insert main and rod bearings, and mated to a lightened Ford flywheel. A new Snyder 5.5 to 1cylinder head was fitted as well.It features oil filtration, using a spin-on filter. Transmission was gone through,as well, including new gaskets, the trans shaft seal upgrade, pedals rebushed, and the shifter towerreceiving new rods, detents and springs.New clutch, pressure plate, T/O bearing and clutch fork, with all engine/trans assemblies correctly painted and detailed. Original universal joint was remanufactured. Rear banjo and brake assemblies were left alone, and operate nicely.
COOLING: A new 8 fin/inch radiatorwas installed, and the truck runs consistently within ideal temperature.range. A leakless water pump is also in place.Additionally, I installed a Gano coolant filterat time the truck wascompleted that effectivelyblocksany impurities from compromising the new radiator. The original and recore-able Ford radiator will be included with the truck, for those purists out there.
CHASSIS: Very sound, clean and straight. New bushings, front spring, and shackles installed, with front brakes completely reconditioned with new wear parts and molded front shoes.Front and rear engine mounts refreshed. Battery is very recent, and a battery cut-off is installed for safety. Front/rear tires are Universal truck pattern, in near new condition, with the fender spares BFG replicas. Two nice condition21" Ford originalwheels will also be included.
This truck starts easily, runs smoothly, shifts easily and quietly, and stops well. Everything with the exception of the aforementioned wiper motor is in working order, including the dash light. The original (and rare) 1929 commercial motor vehicleplates willbe includedwith the truck.Clear Texas title in my name. Please email me with any questions or requests for additional photos, and I will respond quickly.Personal pre-purchase inspections are encouraged, and always welcome. Shipping is the buyers responsibility, but I will gladly work with shipper of choice.
This little '29 should giveher next owner many years and miles of driving fun!
