Evolve Motors is pleased to present this badass 1936 Plymouth hotrod!
Hot Rod:
- noun Slang.
1. An automobile built or altered for fast acceleration and increased speed.
I think that definition pretty much sums up the story of this 1936 Plymouth Business Coupe. Her business is speed, and brother, business is boomin! This car was built from the ground up by a well known hot rod shop in Nashville TN. As you can tell from the pictures, there was very little expense spared, from the Mustang II front suspension underneath, to the hand stitched tuck and roll interior on the inside. This car catches looks every where, and for good reason. If not for her good looks, definitely for the sound. The well built 383 Stroker GM Crate Motor leaves little to the imagination in terms of “what’s under the hood?” This tasty treat is packing close to 400 horsepower, and plenty of traction to get you down the road in a timely fashion with the meaty 215 Cooper Trendsetters, all by way of the 700R4 linking power to the Ford 9” rear end. And don’t worry, you’ll have enough grab and go with the posi-trac limited slip differential. Plenty of highway cruising power, along with a decent set of MPG’s with the 3.73 gear ratio out back. Chrome abounds the engine bay, from the alternator, to the custom chrome covered firewall. This thing is insane!
The car was finished in a brilliant deep purple metallic, with extra layers of clear coat for that extra shine on the sunny days. We do note a few paint blemishes since completion, around the headlight bezels and a few very small spots in the paint around the fender flares, as seen in the pictures. The glass is clean and scratch free, and even shows some of the original 1936 patina along the door glass edges. The chrome shines brilliantly on the bumpers and trim pieces, and especially on that swooping Plymouth hood ornament. The chrome American Racing Torque Thrusts give it that All-American hot rod look, and the chrome knock-offs really set it apart from the rest of the crowd. The exterior of this car shows very well, leaving nothing but the driving to you.
The interior of this custom cruiser is just as nice as the outside. The slight two-tone of the tan leather seats and door panels really gives the car a classy elegance, without going over-the-top custom. The tuck and roll stitching throughout gives it a clean look from door panel to trunk lid. The dash has been painted to match the exterior, with just slight brush marks throughout to give it an almost “wood-grain” look, and accents off the custom wood steering wheel perfectly. The rear wall panel is more custom leather work, surrounding two Pioneer 6”x9” speakers. The seat frames appear to be out of an older GM truck or van, and are very comfortable, with both tilt and slide adjustments on each. Directly below the driver’s seat you’ll find a Kenwood CD player mounted cleanly between the driver’s legs… Heck, if you’re lucky maybe she’ll even play with the radio, but only while you’re parked. The off-white face VDO gauges give it a very clean and vintage look, and all appear to be functioning properly. They added a nice ignition interlock system for security, which will be explained to the buyer at time of delivery. To complete the finished look, a full tuck and roll headliner was installed, and again, nothing but quality stitching throughout. We added a special little “cherry” on top, with the custom glass blown shifter knob that we had laying around, and I think it sets the interior off nicely. The window cranks all turn smoothly, with no excessive slop or play. We’re assuming all window cranks and mechanisms were restored during the build. To keep you comfortable, a complete Vintage Air heat and AC system was installed, and works wonderfully. If you’re looking for more of a “natural” air conditioner, pop the cowl vent open and crank open the windshield for a breath of fresh air. Talk about living in the moment, cruising the back roads, radio up, windows down, and the country air hitting you in the face with your favorite person riding shotgun. If you can’t visualize it, maybe this car isn’t for you. If you’re picking up what we’re throwing down, give Evolve a call today to put this beautiful beast in your garage tomorrow!
