1975 Ford F-250 RANGER Additional Info:
1975 F-250 4X4 RANGER HIGHBOY
This is a really solid and original '76 4x4 f250. It's been a local truck as far back as I can remember. It was bought new in Puyallup Washington. All original paperwork is included. The owners manual, warranty identification card, manufactures statement of origina, etc., are included. The odometer says 88,769 and I believe that to be original. Original paint and body, no repainted areas. No bodywork. Very very little rust. It's tight and the interior doesn't smell. V8 with 4-speed manual. I would personally just drive this as-is. It has a nice patina but it would be a great candidate for an easy restoration too. I like the color and it has black interior. This red color on this '75 really pops. Especially since the paint is 44 years old! More details on the truck below. Let me know if your interested in doing something early. Will consider offers. Have many more pics I can send. Thank you.
MECHANICAL
Thisford has the original 360 V8 engine. 4-speed manual. Divorced transfer case. The engine runs good but I believe the heads need work. The motor runs good and doesn't smoke when cold. It does start to smoke a little when warmed up. From my experience, this is most likely bad valve guide seals and/or worn valve guides. Every old car I've ever seen/owned that smokes, will smoke when cold. I've been a mechanic a long time and I've owned a LOT of old cars and ford pickups. I believe this motor will be fine with rebuilt heads. It has good oil pressure. No knocks. No major leaks. It doesn't "miss". New valve cover gaskets. Original 2barrel carb. Most people convert these to 4barrel to get a better quality carburetor, and more power. These 2barrel carbs also have the old style choke's that work off exhaust manifold heat. The newer 4-barrel carbs have electric or manual chokes which are better. The transmission and clutch work perfectly. Transfer case and 4x4 works fine. Power brakes. Non-power steering. These trucks are easy to convert to power steering and full kits are sold to do that. Heater, heat selector, wipers, lights, and gauges work. The radio is an old pioneer that doesn't work. It's nice that it wasn't cutout for a cd player. The tires are old and in ok shape but have some weather cracking. I'd put new tires on it for sure.
BODY
This pickup has a really nice body for an un-restored '75. The cab is in especially nice shape for a dentside (1973-1979) ford pickup. No rust. The only rust I can find on the truck is a very small spot on the drivers door rear low corner, in the outer skin. The drivers side front fender has a small spot on the low rear corner skin also. Both spots are small and hard to see unless you zoom in on the pics. The rest of the truck is very clean. The box, tailgate, cab, hood, inner fenders, header, etc. all are clean. The drivers fender was bumped at some point. That fender could probably be repaired mostly without painting but I'm not sure. The grille shell is damaged. These are reproduced new, and also not hard to find used. The tailgate, hood, and doors all operate as they should. The box is very straight on this truck and the inside in pretty good shape also. The windshield is cracked but the rest of the glass is good.
INTERIOR
The interior is in pretty good shape. It is all original which I like. It has the original carpet that's actually in pretty nice condition. It has a little sun fading but these trucks usually either have a bad original carpet, or it's been replaced. The dashpad and dash/gauge area are nice and unmolested. Headliner and door panels are good. Seat is original, and comfy, but has the usual wear on the drivers side. Original replacement vinyl for the seat is probably available. These trucks are very popular for restoration so parts are readily available. The pics pretty much tell the story on the interior. No smells either. No pet hair or smoke smell.
Overall
This is a nice old pickup. Really clean and straight for an un-restored truck that is 44 years old. I've owned many '73-'79 and '67-72 ford pickups. It's getting hard to find nice original trucks in driver condition. This old classic F250 is used, and soldas-is. Thanks
