1977 Ford F-250 Ranger 4X4 Additional Info:
Rust-free, stock and original, good running and driving, well-preserved, nicely patina'd 1977 Ford F250 Ranger 4X4 pickup truck. This truck was manufactured in July of 1977 at the Ford plant in San Jose, CA. It was then shipped to a dealer in DSO 71 (Ford's Los Angeles district). The original owner brought it to the Mojave Desert of Southern California where it lived until 2016. For the last 3 years it has been in the desert climate of Southern Utah.
The exterior is well-preserved and rust-free. At some point in the ancient past it was resprayed silver over the original Midnight Blue Metallic and the cab in particular has only modest bumps and bruises from use. The bed has been previously repaired in the rear and has surface rust only due to a plastic bedliner trapping moisture. I have treated it with a rust reformer. My additional pictures show the sheet metal in great detail. All glass is good. Lights up front work but taillights do not.
The interior is all original other than a vintage Clarion AM/FM/cassette deck. Dash pad is cracked (I'll include a cover) but dash is in good shape with no cutting or butchery. All gauges work. Upholstery and headliner are original but worn and can be used as a pattern. Windows roll up and down properly and doors open and close properly but drivers door is rattly (needs new weatherstripping) and missing the door panel (replacements are readily available). Vent window latch is broken on drivers side. And it has air conditioning (needs to be recharged).
It runs and drives very well. The engine is a 351M V8 (new fuel pump and battery) running through an NP435 manual transmission to an NP205 transfer case. The front differential is a high-pinion Dana 44 (with disk brakes and locking hubs) and the rear differential is a Dana 60 (with 4.10 gears). The 4WD system works properly and all smog equipment is still in place. The only issues are some of the hydraulic lifters are noisy and the brakes are spongy (they still stop well). It sat for a while and I think it just needs to be driven.
This is a great truck to build from with excellent bones. Rust-free sheetmetal is VERY hard to come by. It runs, drives, shifts, steers, turns and brakes nicely and is pretty tight (other than the rattly drivers door). And it's all stock and original. Plus it has air conditioning. It could easily be a daily driver. I hope it ends up with someone who will use it, preserve it or restore it. Stock and original vintage trucks like this which haven't been horribly modified over the years are getting harder to find. Just my two cents.
