For sale: 1977 Ford F-250 Ranger XLT Camper Special, super nice condition and pampered by 2 fussy older owners 1977-2018. Sold new and lived life out on the high plains of Alberta and Montana. Loaded truck with every available option – 460, automatic, power steering and brakes, air conditioning, cruise control, and since power windows were not a factory option, the original owner added them. I purchased the truck last spring from the second and long term owner, and drove and enjoyed the truck all summer to car shows and cruise nights. Comes with complete original documentation including manual, owner card, warranty papers, build sheet, maintenance guide, fuel economy calculator, color chart, and Ford times magazines. Marti Report included as are original jack, handle, and lug wrench. Very well maintained over the years, engine has been rebuilt and includes $9,930.00 in mechanical receipts over the last 10 years. Anything that didn’t work perfectly on the truck was replaced. Currently running the later Ford F250 alloy wheels, original wheels and hubcaps are included. Exterior: Very good condition with one repaint in factory colors (Dark Jade/Light Jade). Shines well and really looks nice. Straight truck with no major dents or dings, a few very small dings near hood spine that won’t show up in pics and are very hard to notice. Repaint was about 10 years ago, at that time the usual rust repair was done over both rear wheels where mud gets trapped and holds moisture. No rust thru on the truck, but after 10 years there are some blisters on the lower body. I doubt these would get much worse over time, but might need attention “someday”. I took close up pics of these areas, they are hard to see so I pointed my finger in the photos. PLEASE see linked Photobucket album for 70 pics. Bottom of both doors had some rust that was treated with converter and then painted. Underside of truck had no major rot, there was some surface rust in areas, I sprayed those with a converter product called Reformer, which dries to a matte black finish. Nothing hidden or covered up with undercoat, what you see is what you get. Floors, cab mounts and cab drop-offs look good from underneath, there was rust on the box braces behind the rear wheels and that was treated. Again, pics in Photobucket album. Glass is good, windshield has been replaced. Chrome, moldings and brightwork in good condition with no pitting. Box has color tinted spray in bedliner, wheel wells are not banged up. Truck was never abused and it shows everywhere you look. Overall, a knockout truck that will draw a crowd wherever you stop.
Interior: All original and in very good condition. Original seat has one small tear down low on the driver side near the floor. Original dash, door panels, headliner all in very good condition. Bezels are bright and gauges are clear. Carpet is the original factory shag and it does show some wear in a few spots. No rodent or moisture damage. Probably the nicest original 42 year-old interior you’ll see. Absolutely everything works right down to the seat belt warning buzzer.
Mechanical: Starts, runs, and drives out great, jump in and go. Rebuilt 460 with RV cam pulls very strong and truck is tight, crisp, and smooth. No smoke, noise, or major leaks. Truck has 122k highway miles, engine was completely rebuilt at 113830 miles. Very well maintained, just under $10k in mechanical receipts included for work done since 2008. Anything that didn’t work perfectly was replaced by fussy older owner. This truck is sorted, as far as I know, absolutely everything works including the cruise control and power windows, and AC blows cold. Both fuel tanks work. About the only thing worth mentioning is that the temp gauge reads a bit high, which is common on these trucks. Truck doesn't heat, and I checked at radiator and thermostat with laser temp gun and it's running 190 degrees on the warmest day last summer. Should you decide to address it, its either the aftermarket temp sensor, or the instrument voltage regulator (available from LMC and others). Nice throaty sounding dual exhaust, just a great running truck that's a joy to drive.
Pricing/Misc: This truck is NO RESERVE and will sell. If you’ve been looking lately, you already know that nice F250 Camper Special trucks are expensive now, with a few nudging $20k. I personally sold a stripper 78 F250 2wd last summer for $10,500. This truck runs and drives very well,but flying in and driving it home probably isn’t a great idea, as Montana is a huge state with many remote areas with no cell service or roadside assistance. Reasonable transport is available, I will drive truck to meet your transporter and help load it. Title is clear and in my name, buyer will need to get insurance upon purchase as I will cancel mine. Truck can stay here for 30 days, after that $100/month storage will be due.
