I have known this truck for over 25 years. It used to cruise the San Gabriel Valley in Southern California in the mid-90s. A kid I went to school with built it with his dad and grandfather...or he helped them. It was a frame off build. Mustang II front end, before there were kits, and a 9" sourced from a Bronco I believe. The poor gal was left kind of alone for a bit, as life happens. The kid got a real job, and new toys. So she sat from 96ish until early 2000. At this point, the "kid", called me up to see if I wanted to buy the old girl. She was locked away, gathering dust. My timing was off a bit, I was getting married that summer. Money was tight (Isn't it always?). My brother ended up with the truck.
Not much happened with the truck for a bit. At this point, she still had a 351w. We pulled the four speed out and replaced the carb with EFI...and then she sat again. Brother bought a house and got married. Yes sir, life gets in the way of all our plans. Getting older doesn't help much either, but beats the alternative I guess.
Time passed, and she came my way. About 2012 or so I moved from SoCal to Central Arizona. The truck followed me home, and my wife said we could keep it! With a homestead changeup, and a family to raise, it sat out here for a bit. Last year I dug it out, and started doing some work. Re-wired and flushed out, EFIback to carb,and fired her up. She sounded like she used to, but smoked. Rings were not waking up, even after every trick heard. Then the hard decision...
Motor had to be pulled anyway! A 5.3 Ls was sourced out. It was blown apart, tanked and checked. The motor was then reassembled and made "pretty". The 4L60e was rebuilt, and a new converter was used. A new aluminum dual pass radiator was used to keep hoses from being a mess. Long tube stainless headers from an unknown application were used withold Flowmasters. The GM power steering pump pressure relief valve wassetup to work with the now Foxbody rack. It makes it smooth, and not super loose. The only thing that makes the truck a bit odd is the rolling stock. Although I really like the looks of the bias ply tires, I don't believe they are the best combo with 350-375hp. She gets a bit loose... They look cool, but have their issues.
Buyers are responsible for transport. I can store it for a reasonable amount of time while arrangements are made. May be able to help (logistically, not financially) on my end if shipping out of country.
