1961 Ford Galaxie 2-Door Hardtop Additional Info:
For Sale-This nearly RUST FREE 1961 Ford Galaxie is a great car. The only rust we have found on the body is one spot on the passenger side (visible in the pictures), and a few little tiny holes in the front of the hood. Both are very patchable, and we could take care of that for an extra cost. Most of these cars have a lot more rust issues than this. The motor was recently rebuilt and it sounds perfect. We have driven the car around the block a few times and it runs great. We also just replaced the water pump. All the glass is good. The doors shut easy and smooth. It appears the car has never been in an accident. The paint is original. It appears that the original owner started sanding the paint on the hood and front fenders to do a repaint, but didn't get very far. The power steering and power brakes work nice. The odometer reads 39018 now. We do not know if that has gone over a million times, haha, but it could be accurate. We are a hotrod shop in Ogden Utah and have looked over the car to determine what we think it needs to be a good driver. The winning bidder can have us take care of any of these things for an extra charge if you want. Here's what we came up with:-It could use new tires. They hold air, and we drove around on them, but they are older and should be replaced.-The generator isn't charging. We usually replace the old style generator with a GM 1 wire alternator.-The windshield wiper mechanism was removed as the previous owner did that to get ready to repaint the car. It is complete and included. Would not be hard to install again.-The front left brake seems to have a sticking brake shoe. The brake shoe may be dirty or may just need a new return spring.-The previous owner took the rear bottom seat cover off the springs. He said the car had gotten mice in that cushion and wanted to clean that out. The spring is there and needs to be covered. The carpet was also removed. -The carburetor seems to run great but the accelerator pump on the carb is leaking. That is an easy external fix, and the part is about $10.-The transmission shifts good but when you put it in park, the car still rolls. We aren't sure if that is a linkage issue. We just use the parking brake when the car is parked.
The list may not be complete, but we have tried to list everything we could think of to make the car a good driver. As mentioned before, feel free to inquire about cost to have us do any of these items.
