1965 Ford Galaxie Custom Additional Info:
The Reserve will not be disclosed so please don't ask.
For sale is a 1965 Ford Custom Chicago police car clone. This is not an original police car, it was a one owner retail family sedan. This is the base low line 1965 Ford full size sedan. Most common full size was the Galaxie, the Custom was the low line model used by fleets including police departments. Unlike many police car clones this is the correct low line model and the Chicago Police Department did use 1965 Ford Customs.
Vintage police cars are a huge hit at car shows and parades and frequently attract more attention than cars costing much, much more.
The car is equipped with from the factory with a 352 V8, automatic transmission, power steering and AM radio. Included with the auction is a laminated copy of the original window sticker along with the warranty card and heater instruction card. The title is still in the family's name and prior registration cards are included. The car was owned for a while by a small movie car rental company and used as an all white police car. This car has spent it's life in Oregon and California. The miles shown on the 5 digit odometer are 58,501, it may well be correct but I can't say for sure.
The car was originally white, it has been repainted in the correct Chicago police colors with period correct markings installed. The correct police equipment has been installed. Door, trunk and hood jambs were correctly painted to match. Prior to paint there were only minor dings, there was some rust on the trunk lid which was repaired. The interior is mostly all original and in very good used (not perfect) condition. The original carpet was faded and has been replaced with a vinyl floor covering to resemble the rubber mat originally installed on most police cars. Mechanically the car runs very well, it always starts right up with no smoke or noises. The transmission shifts smoothly and the brakes seem good. I have driven it locally but never on any long trips. A new heater core was just installed. The AM radio does work but reception is only fair.
There is a clear Oregon title on the car, it is not currently registered. The car is 52 years old so it is obviously sold AS IS. A $500.00 non refundable deposit through paypal is due within 24 hours of the auction end. The balance is due within 7 days of the auction end, payment must be made in the form of cashier's check, bank wire transfer or cash in person. Paypal is NOT acceptable for the balance due.
