1990 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat Standard Cab Pickup 2-Door Additional Info:

This is the kind of truck you get to enjoy today and watch the admiration rapidly appreciate. After all, this 1990 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat is a loaded pickup that's still ready to take its fuel-injected V8 to work. But it's also starting to get those stares that remind people of when they first saw these flat-faced workhorses. Here's an interesting dilemma. We saw plenty of these F-150s on the road a quarter century ago. The tough-guy square styling really resonated with pickup people, and Ford sold plenty. The problem is that today, there are not too many of these icons around that haven't seen a hard life. These F-150s were workhorses, so the few that you do find are often very far from the condition they left the showroom in. This truck is the one diamond in the rough. It has a great period-correct two-tone, and sheetmetal that has led a good life. The XLT Lariat trim package added a pleasing amount of brightwork to the truck, and there's even an extra pinstripe in the full-length body crease. All of it remains in very good condition, from the wheel well moldings, to the shiny factory wheels, to the big chrome bumpers, to the brushed stainless steel tailgate insert. Plus, the bedrails and rubber mat means this one can do much more than the weekend chores and still look great. The tow hitch will also make you the coolest vehicle everywhere from the boat ramp to the campsite.Inside is Ford's upscale XLT Lariat interior, which features gray cloth on the seats for comfort, and woodgrained trim on the dash to give it a more luxurious feel. There's a fold-down center console so you can decide if you want to carry two friends, or have a more individual level of comfort. Regardless of how many people are inside, this is quite a luxurious experience. Power windows, power locks, and the original AM/FM/cassette stereo are features you don't find on many vintage pickups today. The original factory steering wheel has the buttons for cruise control, and beyond that is a full set of factory gauges, including optional tach. There are provisions for air conditioning, but we really know your favorite breezes will be the ones created when you open the side vent windows and slide the rear glass. It's all part of the vintage truck experience. The 5.0-liter V8 is under the hood looks quite original, and it's a great choice in the F-150. Averaging around 3,000 miles annually, this pickup has led a pampered life. Low mileage does not mean it missed out on maintenance, and the way this one fires up readily proves it. The fuel-injected motor neatly straddles the line between power and economy, and it's mated to a rugged four-speed automatic transmission with highway-friendly overdrive. Plus, with power steering, front disc brakes, and modern Michelin tires, it's quite a comfortable cruiser. In fact, this F-150 is built for the long haul thanks to the dual fuel tanks. There is a funny thing that happens with new classics.
