• 1st owner purchases May 15, 1962 at Pletcher Ford Philadelphia, drives car about 40,000 miles in 4 years when he buys a '66 Galaxie which he still owns.

• Paul Ramanaskus purchased the car April 1, 1966. He keeps extensive records of maintenance and repairs in spiral bound notebook. For instance 23 oil changes in approx. 35,000 miles, 49 years.

In 1961 Ford's success in NASCAR and NHRA with its 390 was quickly evaporating. Competitor's 400 cubic inch or larger engines were mopping up.

The answer was the FE series 406. More than a bored out 390 the 406 was recast utilizing thicker cylinder walls plus more substantial pistons and connecting rods.

Two versions of the 406 were offered a three Holley Carb version and a single Holley 4 barrel such as offered here. Solid lifter 385 hp @ 5800 with 444 lb. ft. of torque @ 3400 rpm.

Incredible time machine that looks, runs and drives like a new '62. Driven only 2700 miles in the last 20 years there are some (very minor) typical and expected mechanical issues that should be addressed - nothing that a back yard mechanic couldn't easily handle.
