1975 Ferrari Dino 308 GT4
Chassis # 11104
A true 2+2 GT with unique and compelling styling, exceptional handling and lively performance that set the pattern for Ferrari’s mid-engined series to follow.
This example is a very low mileage car with under 14K original miles. Despite the very low mileage the car features a professionally rebuilt engine by Dino Motors, SF Bay area Ferrari specialists. The car had sat for almost 20 year and had coolant in the oil and, as a result, was treated to a full motor rebuild. All mechanical items were attended to at that time and the cars starts, runs and drives very well. The Ferrari V8 features twin distributors and four Weber carburetors and is CA smog exempt as a 1975 model.
The 3.0 liter aluminum V8 is mounted transversally in a tubular spaceframe with fully independent double wishbone suspension at all four corners. Power output is 240 HP in the American market version delivered thru a 5-speed manual gearbox with an iconic gated shifter.
With a curb weight just over 2,500 lbs, performance is excellent.
Bodywork features a professional respray with the original and dramatic gold over black two-tone treatment and presents very well. Prancing horse exterior and wheel badges have been added, although the car was built as a true Dino. (Ferrari branding of the model began in 1976.)
The stunning interior is in superb condition with minimal wear to the attractive saddle tan leather. Visibility is excellent and the commanding driving environment has a very special and sporty ambiance. 1970’s touches include the comprehensive set of Veglia instruments set in an alloy panel, lined mid-trunk, air-conditioning and a Clarion audio unit.
The Dino 308 GT4 was introduced in 1973 and was the first production Ferrari with a mid-engine V8 and the first with Bertone styling. The crisp, angular lines enclose a true 2+2 GT interior and useful storage, so this is a grand touring motorcar in the fullest sense of the term.
A very special and collectable model the 308 GT4 was in production from 1973 thru 1979 with a total of 2,826 being built before being replaced by the Mondial 8 in 1980.
Very attractive example of a rare Ferrari model with excellent mechanicals, beautiful interior, unique color combination and remarkable practicality. An exciting sports car to be driven and enjoyed often.
