You are bidding on a low mileage, original, matching #’s, 1975 Ferrari ‘Dino’, Boxer Series 1 that has been lovingly cared for over the past 43 years. It is finished in its factory original colors; Argento Banderole / Nero (Silver/Black) over Rosso (Red) leather, with a 5 speed manual transmission, power windows, stereo & air conditioning.
The Dino was purchased from the original owner (81 year old gentleman that had a passion for exotic cars) which had been sitting for about 26 years in dry heated storage & was re-commissioned in August of last year. The gas tank was cleaned & the entire fuel system flushed along with the Webbers receiving a cleaning & tuning. All other fluids were flushed & refilled with fresh fluid (brake & coolant). The tires show little wear but were installed in the‘90’s. Original Owner’s manual, jack & stowage bag are included.
With just over 27K miles on the clock this Dino has seen very little moisture as the body shows no rust or metal repair of any kind & is dent free. The underside is solid & the floor pans are the originals showing no rust or repair. There are no signs of accident damage & the fitment of the body panels are evident of that (see pics). The vehicle received one re spray in the original color(s) some time in the early 90’s, the paint shows well with no scratches & has a good shine however, the paint finish is not of superior show quality but is very presentable. All glass in the car is factory original and in excellent condition along with the aluminum window trim. The only body flaw is a shallow dent in the front bonnet that looks like someone tried to close it without knowing to press the ball on the hydraulic strut before lowering the bonnet (see pic).
This Matching Numbers Dino (Chassis # Dino F106AL * 10372 DGM OM Engine # Ferrari F106A * 01131*) , is equipped with its factory original Ferrari V8 engine which starts quickly & runs smooth & strong with no hesitations. The manual gearbox shifts well with no syncro issues what so ever..... all other running gear are factory original to the car.... having travelled only 27+K miles the suspension, steering & drive train are tight, tracks straight & handles as it should. The brakes are excellent & do not pull or drag in anyway.
All electrical systems are functioning; gauges, horn, lights etc., with the exception of the power windows which is said to be most likely a problem with console window switches as this is a common problem.
The Red Leather (black piping) interior is clean, with the expected patina for a 43 year old car. The seats are in excellent original condition with no tears or open seams (driver’s side bolster has had a small repair but well done). All other interior panels are original to the car...the headliner is perfect & compliments the interior extremely well. The black dashboard top panel is remarkably well-preserved (shows one small crack, passenger front corner which has been repaired) while the silver accented instrumentation cluster is in very good condition along with the complimentary switch gear. The interior carpet is in very good condition showing only minor wear consistent with the mileage. The interior overall looks ‘fresh’, unrestored with an authentic feel that remains surprisingly crisp.
Dealers or owners often added Ferrari badging to Dino cars back in the day to help promote selling of the car...in this case the vehicle retains it’s original Dino Badging, only one Dino center cap for the wheels remained (which I have) so 4 Ferrari center wheel caps were installed. The Boxer black paint is nicely applied with accentuating black/silver dent guard molding installed at the “beltline”. The wheels are the Cromodora style originals in very good condition with no visible curb rash.
The trunk retains its original carpet (Blue/Black) & shows light wear. The spare tire compartment is clean & tidy & in very good overall condition appearing unrestored yet nicely preserved.
The air conditioning unit is in place but does not blow cold. The underside of the car is clean & solid though not detailed showing signs of use, some front valance scuffing & minor wear. The body & chassis appear very nice, reflective of an original, low mileage Ferrari that was only used as a summer time toy!
On the road & at speed the driver position & forward stance returns a Formula One experience reminding us that the great Niki Lauda himself, a Ferrari racing champion, had a hand in developing the suspension geometry specifically for the GT4. The car is remarkably tight & coherent in its operation.
This is an excellent opportunity to acquire an incredibly original, mechanically excellent, charmingly patinaed and entirely honest preserved example of one of history’s most important & sought after sports cars. Finished in a desirable color combination & fully factory optioned.
The Ferrari of Beverly Hills novelty Licence Plate is from my first Ferrari that I bought from them many years ago...it does not go with the car!
Please feel free to ask as many questions as you like; more pictures are available beyond what the EBay auction shows.... they may be requested by sending me your personal email address.
My opening auction price is what I have invested into this car and you would be hard pressed to find one comparable for the same price. The Ferrari was purchased for my wife however, she feels it is a bit too much car for her to handle & would prefer a newer late model Maserati.
I have tried to take pictures of all aspects of the car including the underside, however I don't have a hoist and took them lying underneath. If you want specific pics please feel free to ask, I will do my best to accommodate.
I am willing to ship WORLDWIDE & will assist with shipping arrangements.
Given that I am located inCanada, some US & offshore buyers may be reluctant to bid given the border crossing and or importation paperwork required to import the vehicle to their home destination. I can assist with providing the buyer with contact information to an international transportation company (specializing in relocating vintage and classic cars worldwide) that can safely and at a reasonable cost transport the vehicle. I have personally used this company several times and have been extremely pleased with the pick-up & delivery.
Note: I can have this car shipped to any European destination for approx $1.5KUSD, this would put it at the closest port to your home destination.
