For your consideration, a barn find 1948 Dodge D24 Custom 4 Door Sedan
The D24 Custom in 1948 was the top trim level in the Dodge range. It differed from the basic Deluxe model with upgrades in terms of interior trim, seats, dual electric windshield wipers and chrome exterior beading around the windows. It is powered by a 230 cid inline six cylinder engine. This car has a three-speed "Fluid Drive" transmission option which provided "no metal-to metal contact between the power source and drive". With the fluid drive transmission the flywheel was replaced with a fluid coupling. The fluid drive transmission could be driven like an automatic, but it was simpler, less expensive, more efficient and more reliable than the full automatics available in the late 1940s.
This car does not run. It does roll and steer. The engine turns by hand. I removed the head and discovered it needs new valves. The cylinder walls look good, please see the photos. I have “new old stock” parts that I planned on installing, but I have decided not to continue with the project. Please see the photo showing the parts. This car is very solid. The body, frame, and under carriage are in good shape for its age, with basically surface rust and no rot except for a spot by the driver's seat. The paint is in poor condition with lots of surface rust. There are no major dings or body damage. The interior is all present but in poor condition. Check out my 100% positive feedback and bid with confidence. Contact me with any questions; we can talk over the phone to discuss this car in detail. You can also make arrangements with me to visit and inspect the car.
The car is located in Jeffersonville, NY and the buyer is responsible to arrange and pay for transportation.
New York State does not have vehicle titles for vehicles manufactured before 1973. This is a New York State registered car with a current "transferrable" registration that can be used to title the car in your State.
