A very unique modified 1951 B-3PW project, 90% complete. I picked up this Power Wagon in a trade but just sold my home and will be moving to another state soon, so I have decided not to pursue finishing it. The frame / wheelbase has been shortened 24” (to 102”). The box, running boards, and bumpers have been hand fabricated, all modification /fabrication work has been done very well. The firewall has been recessed 2” to accept the period correct 1955 301 Poly “Spitfire” V8 engine. The previous owner(s) have shared at least 40 years of this Arizona truck’s history with me. The truck is built from all mopar / FF PW parts, the exact mileage is unknown. I’m told the engine has low miles and runs very well, I pulled the valve covers and it looks new inside. The 4 speed transmission is a NP 420 with PTO and differentials are 5.83 gears. The brakes, wheel cylinders, axle seals, bearings and races have been replaced / rebuilt. The brake pedal has been changed to a “hanging” pedal for conversion to power brakes on the firewall. The truck has (5) new 9.00 x 16 NDT tires (zero road miles), new front shocks, new Champion aluminum radiator, a larger hand fabricated fuel tank with electric fuel pump, and many new / NOS parts that have been power coated such as floor panels, door panels, running board brackets, fenders, headlight buckets and other miscellaneous parts. All body / bed mounts are new. The seat has been newly reupholstered. Has PTO driven MU-2 winch and removable rear pintle hitch with 2” receiver. The interior headliner has been hand fabricated from sheet metal and looks really good. The cab itself looks to be original condition. I went over the entire surface with a magnet and only found two small areas of body filler, not very thick as the magnet still had decent strength. I did find some rust in the bottom driver side rear cab corner (see pic), but over all the cab is very solid, the doors close and latch very well. The truck is currently not running / driving as there are a few things to finish to make it drivable / road worthy.
The things I see left to do are;
The truck comes with many spare / extra parts. Most of the parts needed to complete the items above are included. “New” parts included are; Champion aluminum radiator and hoses, dash gages, wiring harness and fuse block, passenger door window glass (both), window felt runs, channels, rubber seals and felt wipers for both doors, speedometer cable, engine and differential gasket sets, several new bearings, races and oil seals. Also comes with alternator, coil, dual master brake cylinder, a set of extra front and rear axles, extra 3rd member in housing, drive lines and yokes, ball joints, wheel cylinders, inner fenders, an extra hood, rotating pintle hook, and many more misc. parts.
