1963 Dodge 440, 225 Slant Six
Nice daily driver! Or fully restore.
I purchased this car 2 years ago to drive around town and show at local car shows where it always demands attention. It’s great as a daily driver but would also make for a killer restoration. These 440s are rare and the price of vintage Mopars has gone crazy recently, so don’t pass on this one.
Past History: Not much is known about the car prior to my purchasing it about 3 years ago. The previous owner rescued it from a barn where it “sat” for about 12 years. He got the car up and running and was driving it around town when I first saw it- and was successful in acquiring it.
The 440: Exterior paint is in good condition with surface rust mainly showing around the side trim and window trim areas. Body is solid with great lines and fitment. Front right panel needs some body work (see picture). Trunk is dry and clean. Spare tire included (size 14). Interior is all original with the front seat covered due to a hole in the passenger seat area. Headliner looks original and in good condition (some small stains, but no tears/holes/rips). Needs carpeting.
The Slant-six engine is a true workhorse. We’ve had no trouble with it and have replaced or improved upon what was already in the engine compartment. We recently added a Cherry Bomb exhaust to make the engine sound even better! All lights/directionals work. Rear taillights are complete and unbroken (a rarity). All the trim and badges are on the car and in nice condition. I found the original hubcaps in the trunk and they’re now installed and look great with the Cooper Cobras.
No A/C. Original Dodge Radio. Ashtray. Lighter. Push button automatic transmission. Speedometer stops at 30mph.
