A brief history: I bought this car from the original owner, I'm guessing about 10-12 years ago. They owned and used this car in Montana until sometime in the late 1980's when they moved to Wisconsin. While living in Wisconsin, and while this was still their daily driver, they would travel to Montana for their yearly elk hunting trip. To better equip the Monaco for those long trips, they swapped out the original 440 for a 383 for better gas mileage, and added load handler springs in the rear, along with adjustable air shocks to help haul a trunk load of elk meat. The seller showed me a vintage picture of a 700 pound elk hanging out of the trunk. Now that's what I call a grocery getter!

Condition: Before the seller put this car up for sale, he took it to his mechanic to have him inspect it and to replace the brakes and tires. Mechanic replaced some ball joints or tie rod ends, replaced the tires, and said the brakes were good, he just adjusted them. When I bought the car, I drove it 30 miles to my house. It drove great. It ran down the road straight and smooth. It shifted good, it stopped good, the gages all looked good. The only thing I noticed was that it ran really rich (the carburetor definitely needs a rebuild), and some of the windows were slow and sticking. I don't remember trying everything in the way home. I was paying more attention to the vitals. This car is very solid. the only rust through that I can find is a small amount in the lower rear quarters behind the rear wheels, I think in the drivers side lower front fender is bubbling. and a small amount in the trunk floor where it meets with the inner edge of the drivers side inner rear wheel well. Everything else is solid, including all the usual rusty areas: floors, rear frame rails, all of frame/sub frame, torsion bar mount areas, rocker panels, dog legs, lower corners of windshild and back window areas, roof, and all other sheet metal. Front passengers side fender extension is broken, metal grill is cracked but all pieces are intact. Car will need to be trailered. It hasn't been driven since I drove it home years ago. It got parked in the back corner of my shop and was buried behind other projects of mine and my dads, then life happened and it never got any attention. It since developed a few leaks. The master cylinder needs to be replaced, old gas cleaned out of gas tank, and the carburetor rebuilt. Car is complete and lot drives and stops. I currently runs off a gas can.

** PLEASE NOTE, as stated above, the original 440 is long gone, and was replaced with a 383 big block many years ago.
