1964 Dodge Other Additional Info:
This is an original Police spec 1964 Dodge 880, originally black and white in color. The car is trimmed out as a California Highway Patrol car. This car still has its original 413 cu in engine and certified speedometer. The car originally was equipped with right and left spotlights, the original spotlight holes are still in place but the spotlights are no longer there. There are the misc holes in the dash for the shotgun bracket and radio equipment. The large circular cut hole in the right hand side of the radiator support for the siren is also there. There are also holes in the left rear side of the rear package tray for the two rear Amber and Red lights. The car also has the CHP spec white steering wheel. Also the original rubber floor covering is still in the car.
I've owned this car for the past 28 years and have only found 3 other CHP spec 1964 Dodge 880's existing. This is a rare vintage CHP spec police car. The car while I have owned it, has been in storage.
This car is solid but in need of a total restoration. It is missing the carburetor and some trim pieces. The engine needs to be rebuilt along with the brakes, etc. The body is solid with some of the usual rust on the floor pans and the the rear lower quarter panels. The right rear quarter panel has been replaced. It appears the quarter panel was replaced early in the cars life. The rest of the body is straight and solid including the rocker panels. The hood however is bad due to the hood scoop someone added before I owned the car. The car has one blue repaint over the original black and white paint. The roof is still in its original white. The main body was originally black with just the right and left front doors in white.
I'm realistic on what my reserve is for this car, it is low. This is a very rare car and is in need of a full restoration. It does deserve a proper restoration. I do not know any of this cars history prior to my ownership. The car appeared to of been off the road for awhile when I found it and purchased it. The car still has its black and yellow California license plate on the rear bumper.
I have too many vintage police cars and have decided to let some of them go to other homes. Most of what I was going to sell has already sold, but I will sell this car and possibly a couple others in the near future.
This car is sold as is with no warranty. This car is a restoration project and is a great start to an amazingly rare and valuable early vintage police pursuit Dodge.
The California Highway Patrol used some amazing performance cars over the years and Dodge was an important part of it.
