1964 Dodge Other Base Additional Info:
Bought this car locally as it has been a Florida car all it's life. Was last registered on the road in 2007 and owner left it sitting near the ocean for last 6 years. Rust is primarily from Salt air sitting on top of the car and laying where the chrome is. Underneath the car is pretty solid with a few issues but paint is all original which indicates the car has never been in an accident. The interior is in great shape for the year except for the headliner over front seat. It had a wasps nest in it and...well sitting in a car and realizing they are there you can imagine the swatting that happened. The car did start when I bought it but would not stay running. I found the gas line had a hole in it and fixed it. the car started right up and ran. I have replaced the points with electronic induction along with a new ACCEL Coil. This is a 361 CI which is the predecessor to the 383 CI. Voltage regulator and starter relay was replaced and ALL gauges work - no idiot lights. The original radiator was rotted by the salt air and I replaced it with a new Aluminum one. It runs cool with no issues. The brakes did not work so I replaced the master cylinder with a NOS one, the rear brake cylinders and the rear hose and they work perfect. The transmission needed a new filter to make it move. It does drive but the transmission will need attention at some point as it makes a low winding noise. This is a push button on the dash set up to engage the tranny. I bought a rebuild kit for the carburetor but it does run fine, however, needs to be freshened up since it sat for the 6 years. It does not burn any oil and the engine has power to cruise over 75 MPH, of course on a road with that speed limit. This car is Titled and Tagged and I cruise with it to car shows on occasion. Yea it is a boat and needs body work but I intended to make it a Rat Rod and have fun with it. Lightly sand it down, grind some rusty areas and spray it Clear for that patina look or full primer. Thanks for looking!!
