1971 Dodge Challenger R/T
This beautiful 1971 Challenger R/T is one of only 465 built with the 383ci V8 and 4 Speed manual transmission. The car has benefitted from a comprehensive restoration and sympathetic care applied to it over the years. It has its original, numbers matching engine with an upgraded Edelbrock intake manifold and Carter carburetor. The transmission is also original to the car and shifts nicely through the forward gears but is a little stiff shifting in and out of reverse. The FE5 Bright Red paint shines beautifully with very few blemishes. The body is rust free, as are the floors and the trunk. The factory gauges work well and dashboard pad is free of cracks or damage. The factory radio is present but currently inoperable. The odometer is showing 18,123 miles and it is presumed to have rolled over with mileage in excess of 100k. The dual exhaust is in very nice condition. Its complete with factory style resonators and mufflers. It sounds great but there is a small exhaust leak at the manifold resulting from the absence of a heat riser assembly. It has a brand new fuel tank and fuel level sending unit. The interior door and side panels are original, correct and in very good condition. The seats have been reupholstered and present nicely. The chrome and brightwork looks good but the window stainless has some areas of fitment that could be improved. The car has just received an oil and brake fluid service along with filters and spark plugs. The engine runs strong and appears to have been rebuild. The wheels are 15″ Rallyes with radial tires. The the trunk floor is very nice and solid. The spare tire, jack, lug wrench, base and wing nut are restored and present. We do not have a build sheet for the car but the fender tag decodes as follows:
