1969 Dodge Charger 500 Additional Info:
1969 Dodge Charger 500,426cid Hemi up for auction. This is a factory hemi powered car.The Charger 500 was the beginning of the aerodynamic wars Dodge was involved in against ford to compete in the high speed nascar events. The Dodge Daytona winged car came shortly after, making the Charger 500 a very rare car.About 566 Charger 500 cars were produced in late 1968 and very early 69 and of these only about 119 were equipped with the 426cid hemi. The remainder received the base 440cid 375hp engines. These were the only engine options available. When a Charger 500 car war ordered by a customer, regular production Chargers were shipped to Creative Industries were they were fitted with flush mounted grilles, special trim mountings and a rear window that was fitted and trunk lid shortened for better aerodynamics. This was a very limited production car and most were used on the super speedways of nascar (mainly hemi powered cars) so few original cars exist today.
