In the mid-1960s, Dodge’s intermediate-sized Coronet offered buyer’s several options. From the thrifty slant-six powered grocery getter to the fire breathing 426 hemi, whatever your need, Coronet had an answer. Of the performance-oriented persuasion is this stunning, top-of-the-line 1965 Coronet 500 hardtop coupe.
A total restoration of a rust-free California car, this car was completely disassembled and stripped down to bare metal prior to being repainted in base coat/clear coat in its original color of Medium Blue Metallic. Its finish is laser straight and shines brilliantly, as does its chrome and brightwork. Vintage Cragar wheels and a hood scoop provide additional pop.
The interior of this car is equally impressive, and features bucket seats finished in Blue saddle and tallow grain vinyl and a sporty center console. You’ll also appreciate the convenience of its storage bin and rare factory tachometer and power windows. A full battery of auxiliary Stewart Warner gauges will keep you informed about what’s going on under the hood. A complete Legendary interior, including seating areas, carpeting, and headliner, was installed when this car was restored and appears showroom new. All interior brightwork was rechromed, and appears new, as does its recast and repainted original steering wheel. With the exception of the radio and emergency brake, all features work as they should—even the clock!
Under the hood you will find a neatly detailed completely rebuilt 1966 383 CID V-8 bored .30 over mated to a rebuilt 727 3-speed automatic transmission. The rear-end was also rebuilt. Other mechanical features and performance enhancements include the following:
· Comp cam with .500 lift
· Fully balanced rotating assembly
· Wilwood front disc brakes
· Power steering
· Edelbrock intake
· Demon carburetor
· Hedman headers
· Flowmaster dual exhaust
Driven less than 1,000 miles since completed, this car runs and drives as well as it looks.
Included with sale is a binder full of documentation relating to this car, including the original broadcast sheets, title copies from the last two owners, restoration photographs and receipts, and an Illustrated 1965 Coronet Fact and Features Manual.
If you’re looking for a mid-60s Mopar that is absolutely turn-key, look no further than this stunning, fully restored 1965 Dodge Coronet 500.
