This is an exceptional find for Collector who takes pride in the ownership of a rare Convertible with the benefit of a high-quality restoration already completed. With an original total production number of only 992, it's likely that you may not see another like this one.1937 saw Desoto drop the Airflow and re-engineer an all new car incorporating the best engineering from the Airflow era.Take a close look at the design details of this "rolling art". On a historical design note of the 1930's, the "Art Deco" era was influencing automobile design as well. For this 1937 DeSoto, it is well noted by the beautiful design of the grill extending into the fenders which received a patent by well-known automobile designer Ray Dietrich. You'll spot other nods to the era as you look over the photos.
The current owner purchased this DeSoto eighteen years ago from the second owner. As a "complete" car in unrestored condition, to begin with, our seller spent many years searching for"new old stock" partsto provide the best results possible for thisrestoration.Completion was November 2012, just in time to accept an invitation to display in the Walter P. Chrysler Museum. You'll be impressed with the overall presentation. It is finishedexactlyas it left the factory on May 20th, 1937 in Black with Spring Green leather interior and a Black Convertible Top.
The documentation that will be included with the sale will be a copy of the original factory "build card",owners manual, numerous pieces of literature, parts books, and all of the brochures that came with the car as well as anything that was found in untold hours of searching and collectinglike the Dietrich patent.
The authenticity of the restoration includes the numerous original factory options like overdrive, in-dash radio with the rare “hidden” antenna under the running boards, banjo steering wheel, dual “air-tone” horns, heater and fender “shields” as DeSoto called skirts. Please also note that the fender "skirts" arefully restored andincluded with the sale. A few of the photos show the driver's side "skirt" in place to illustrate "the look", some may prefer this.
This is one that you will be proud to own and show. It has been well sorted since the restoration, so you will enjoy it's good manners on the road as well.
