1981 DeLorean DMC-12 Additional Info:
This DeLorean was the center of attention at our 2015 Back To The Future 30th Anniversary party!
I've owned this DeLorean since 1999 and have a lot invested into it's ongoing restoration. Most of the upgrades were performed by the new DeLorean Motor Company in Humble,TX. I have over 20 pages of receipts and vehicle inspections from them which include their complete Stage-2 crate engine and dual stainless exhaust system upgrade. Additional parts from PJ Grady and Special-T Auto are also installed.Overall this is a really solid car and has a lot more going for it than most "original condition" cars. There is a noticeable difference in firing up this engine and driving this car over the stock engine and exhaust system. It's much louder and sounds more like a muscle car and has great power even when you're already moving at highway speeds.
This car is an early VIN (July of 1981) and it's been a pleasure to work on and even more fun to drive. It won't take much to get this car back on the road. The car has been in storage for a while and is NOT currently running. It could use an oil change, probably a new water pump, fuel pump and should probably have the soft fuel lines replaced as well just because it's been sitting for a while (all fuel was drained prior to storage). The interior panels and carpet have all been removed (all are included). The seats are unbolted because I was going to have a full interior leather re-upholstery performed but unfortunately haven't had the time or money to complete the job. The door panels are black and in really good condition. I've also installed a new set of 6 lift struts all around on the doors, engine louvre, and hood.
I've recently installed a brand new set of 4 tires in anticipation of completing the final repairs and being back on the road. The rear tires are Cooper Cobra G/T, and the fronts are Cooper CS4 Touring with literally zero miles on these tires. They were installed just a few months ago and it's been stored inside my garage since then. There is no spare tire or wheel included.
Stainless body is in good condition overall but has a few minor dings and scratches. There is a minor crack in the corner of the roof T-panel where the driver door rubs against it when fully open. The front facia has some warping over the high-beams (typical for original part). The passenger door latch could use some alignment because it doesn't always close properly. The windshield will need to be replaced as there is a crack down the center. These are mostly minor cosmetic things that were going to be part of the final stages of restoration. I've put most of my time and money into the mechanical and bigger item repairs on this car.
Serious inquiries and buyers only please. I know it's a cool car, but please don't schedule a viewing in person if you're just looking to get a selfie while sitting in a DeLorean.
Thanks for looking!
