1970 DATSUN 240ZEARLY SERIES 1, MATCHING NUMBERS, ZERO RUST or BONDORUNNING ENGINE
The legendary 240Z hardly needs an introduction. It was the first production offering of a true GT sports car from Japan and was an instant success. The Zs have become well known for their reliable spirited performance and beautiful lines. By far the most collectible are the Series 1 cars from 1970-71 identified by the twohorizontal vents on the rear hatch below the window.
This 240Z is a running (not driving) car that has lived itsentire life in California. As a result it is completely rust free. It has never been in an accident. It has had one respray in a lighter blue than the original 903 Universal Blue. The original color was only used on Series 1 cars and was discontinued in 1971. According to the International 240Z registry, the beautiful color combination of Universal Blue with blue interior accounted for only 2.01% of production meaning only 3310 came this way. It still wears its original 1970 California blue and yellow license plates. The body is razorstraight.
The blue interior is completely original. The seats have several rips/tears although the door panels, rear cargo panels and headliner are still very good original. A sunroof/moonroof was likely installed by the original selling dealer and functions perfectly and is water tight. The spare tire well has surface rustonly and is totally solid.
The engine is complete andoriginal including the distinctive original orange air cleaner. It runs on an iv of fuel. It has spent the last 20 years or more sitting in a barn, so the brakes, tires and fuel system will need to be renewed before driving. Video of the engine runningwill be posted soon.
The chrome and trim of the car is all original. The bumpers have spots on them but shine up well enough for a driver. It also has driving lights mounted which appear to be a factory option-see the switch on the console near the hand brake.
This is a SUPER rare opportunity for the discerning buyer who appreciates the value and the collectibility of a very early Series 1 240Z. This Z is #01515 off the line. These awesome sports cars from Japan are rarely found in this condition. The original Universal Blue with blue interior is a rare color and stunning on these cars. Prices are going up. This one is ready to make into a driver or restore and is now offered at a very reasonable price.
