This 1968 Datsun 1600 Roadster was sold new in Albuquerque, NM, where it resided until 2008 when it was purchased by the 2nd owner who refurbished the car for his daughter to drive to high school in Roswell, NM. It was repainted from the original Ivory White to the current shade of Red, interior was redone, as well as a brand new top. She enjoyed it throughout her high school years, and it then sat indoors until I purchased it back in January 2024. I had intended to build this car, since I've always loved these Roadsters, but unfortunately I've come to realize I lack the time and availability to get to it in the near future.Car is a 1600cc 1968 Datsun Fairlady Roadster(Titled as a 1969), engine is all original, and will run off a remote fuel tank, but will need general maintenance to get running/driving. Good compression test on all 4 cylinders, no issues I've seen with the drivetrain!Super straight body, previous owner mentioned he fixed some minor collision damage on the passenger rear when he painted the car for his daughter. I've looking under the car extensively, and I haven't seen any major rust or Frankenstein style repairs. Really a nice clean desert car!Paint is an above average amateur finish, some orange peel that would polish out, and a few areas where bubbles are present suggesting adhesion issues or lifting, but more than presentable for a driver or period race car. Nice original bumpers, taillights, side trim, etc... Missing the hood letters as well as the side logos. No external keys, but lock cylinders/keys are readily available from suppliers. Hood latch was disabled, so it simply has a pull strap for opening the forward hinged hood.Interior is very complete, good seats, console, etc... Obviously the desert heat has cracked the dash and it needs some interior attention, but they reproduce the interiors for these cars, and it would be a simple project to freshen it all up. Aftermarket VDO gauges have been installed, so mileage is unknown. Aftermarket ignition switch as well as some other wiring changes, but nothing irreversible.Soft top is in good shape, with all 3 latches to the header panel, nice back window condition. Hard top was made by DynaPlastics and is covered in black vinyl on the outside, with a white headliner. Good shape overall.Overall, it's hard to find them in this solid of condition, especially with a very presentable paint-job! I was hoping to get it back on the road as a fun Japanese road-trip car, but life seems to have gotten in the way. Clean Texas Title in my name, and I can assist with loading on your trailer or meeting a transporter.Located in Lubbock, TX. I've set a very modest reserve just because I'd like to see this go to a good home and for it to get finished rather than sitting in my shop gathering dust. Feel free to PM with any questions, and I can provide additional pics upon request.
