1967 Datsun Other Additional Info:
I'm finally selling my Datsun project. I have come to grips with the fact that I don't have the time to rebuild cars anymore. I'd like to see this car get to completion rather than be parted out as there are quite a few nice pieces that come with it.
My original intent was to keep it pretty stock, but add electronic fuse panel, push button start, alarm system with starter kill, power door locks, power trunk lock. Some of these parts are included in case you want to completely take over my project. Anyhow...
The good:- Rear axle has been completely rebuild with new bearings, gaskets, seals, brake pads, cylinders, drum springs, etc. Rear brake drums have been sandblasted clean as well. Axle housing has been powdercoated semi-gloss black.- Rear springs have been flattened 1.25", powdercoated black, and new bushings installed. (Rear was lowered to match the brand new, never installed front sport springs, which lower the front end.)- Engine stamp and VIN show matching #43529.- Interior was reupholstered and is in great shape. (Interior seats and panels)- New windshield glass is in package waiting to be installed.- New dashboard pad (marked Aero-Nasch Aviation) has not been installed.- New DATSUN 1600 emblems (4) (I'm not sure why I have 4, but I do.) Nissan #62800-25500- New FAIRLADY emblem in script- New Datsun Front Indicator Light Surrounds- New Datsun Front Indicator Light Lens (4) (I bought 2 too many again.) Nissan #26121-10400- New Electronic Ignition Distributor- New Duralast DL7127M 63-amp alternator- New ignition coil Nissan #22433-P7500 (recommended for the EI distributor)- New Nissan Speedometer Cable #25050-89916- Rebuilt gas tank. Boiled and painted.- Advanced Keys Push Button Start system- Viper 5701 Car Alarm- Electric-Life Door Lock System- PDM60 Electronic Programmable Fuse System- Complete set of vintage connectors (Vintage Connections CK-6 Kit) for the car to replace all the wiring with new. Also comes with new crimp tool.- New Oil Filler Cap Nissan #15255-83430- New Radiator Overflow cap Nissan #21430-16300- New coolant thermostat- New Nissan Brake Hoses- New Nissan Front Brake Caliper Pads- New Engine mounts insulators Nissan #11223-32200- New Aftermarket Datsun Competition Spring (from Datsun Sports Mike Young)- New KYB Excel-G front and rear shocks never installed- New McGard Chrome Lug Nuts (for all 4 wheels)- New Stainless Steel Hardware (For lots of the nuts and bolts!)- Clutch Rebuild Kit- Brake Master Rebuild Kit- Fuel Pump Rebuild Kit- Powdercoated Air cleaner housing (semi-gloss black)- Powdercoated Engine Fan (semi-gloss black)- Powdercoated Spare Tire Rim (silver)- Datsun 311 Shop Manual- Chilton Datsun Manual- And a few more things I'm probably missing
The bad:- It hasn't been run since July 2014. But, when it was turned over with EI distributor, new spark plugs, and the new ignition coil, it cranked right up.- There's some rust under the trunk and a pretty awful looking repair job under there. To try and make things look better, the inside of the trunk seems to be epoxy coated or something.- There is a lot of rust under the car that was painted over black by the previous owner. From the stuff that I inspected and rebuilt, it looks like they just sprayed over everything on the underside of the car and in the engine compartment to hide it. It's not swiss cheese by any means, but it's there.- The tires are new, but they're shot. They don't hold air for very long (maybe good for a few hours)...They will hold air long enough to get it on a trailer.- Some of the exterior trim is missing- Some of the small parts of the car are missing
There are a lot of things on the car that I have not seen or tackled. I cannot vouch for these things. Also, the car is about 95% there. Some small parts are missing, but you should be able to get almost everything you need in the Datsun forums. 1967.5 parts can be different than 1967 and 1968 vehicles. If I need to say this, than you may need expert help on finding these rare parts.
All that being said, I wish I had the time to spend on rebuilding this beauty. It's rare. It's a classic. It has been underappreciated for way too long, but has always been a headturner. A 2-seater roadster is what I'd like to drive away into the sunset with, but right now the wife and I need seats in the back for kids and this car won't fit our needs for at least another 10 years.
Let me know if you have questions. I have tons of pics. The car is stored in a storage unit. I'm not in a rush to sell it. I can try to get pics of whatever you need. I won't be lowballed. Deposit is required. Car is for sale locally as well.
