1971 Datsun Z-Series 240Z Additional Info:
I purchased this car in Poquoson Virginia from a then tech at and now owner of Tidewater Z auto service in 1987 or 88. It just came back from Tidewater Z after an extensive cosmetic freshening inside and out. Fresh, bare metal, base/clear respray in original 905 red. Nice quality respray. Has not been sanded or buffed yet and looks great with very few imperfections. Bumpers are older OEM replacements that I bought in the early to mid 90's. They have a few dings and show some age. In 2010, I brought the car to Tidewater Z in Poquoson, Virginia for a $12k updating, including a reproduction, dealer installed, A/C system, similar to the system the car came with when new. A/C blows ice cold. Fan is a higher capacity, Toyota unit. I also had extensive work done on the suspension and mechanicals (contact me for receipt). The car has traveled less than 3000 miles since then. Could be called a mild restomod, but I tried to keep everything close to original. Almost everything that was done at that time was done to make the car as reliable and comfortable of a driver as possible. 2.4L inline 6 was rebuilt by me with the assistance of Ryan Kennedy at Kennedy Motorsport in Ormond Beach in 1994. That was the first and only rebuild. Still runs great. Hot/dry compression numbers are good with less than 5% difference between cylinders (contact me for pics of the gauge in each cylinder). Range from 167-175. Car fires immediately hot or cold. Carbs have been balanced and adjusted and have Z Therapy bodies with roller bushings. Drives great down the road. Early ZX 5 speed transmission that shifts smoothly in all gears. Used a custom bent ZX shift lever so the tunnel did not have to be cut. Centerforce 2 clutch has less than 5k miles. Has Motorsport Auto/Eibach springs all around with new front struts and rear shocks. 15 inch polished, slotted mag wheels with Yokohama Avid H4s tires. Lots of N.O.S. parts just added, including the dashboard, all exterior emblems and the wooden shift knob. New under hood decals and rubber installed. Steering wheel was refurbished last week and I added a picture of it. Reproduction flasher decal installed on the new dashboard. Car was professionally ceramic coated last week. Airbox has been resprayed in factory correct orange with all 4 new, reproduction decals. Fresh tune up, including BP5ES NGK plugs, NGK wires, new fuel filter and oil and filter change. Just went through the entire fuel system, including the gas tank. New lines where necessary. Tank was hot tanked and painted. Low psi electric fuel pump added inline. Remanufactured master vac from Motorsport Auto just installed as the original was starting to hiss and cause a stiff pedal. I will continue to add to this description as there is a lot more information that I'm leaving out at this time. Please feel free to call with questions. I have many more pictures that I can send. Also doing a running/driving video and will post the link shortly. This is my personal car. I own a small dealership and it is listed there as well with more pictures. ElitemotorcarLLC.com
