He tucked it away in his garage for storage in 1985, then time got away from him and he never got it back out. As the car has been sitting for nearly 35 years it is pretty needy, but for somebody who intends... to do a restoration or build of some sort, this car presents an excellent opportunity for a starting point. With the original colorway of Avocado Green over Tan Vinyl, this was a beautifully spec’d car. Aside from the driver’s seat, which is rough, the interior has held up well over the years and will not need too too much in order to impress. The engine, while a correct L24, is not original to the car and does not spin over. The frame is solid but the forward corners of the floors are bad, particularly on the driver’s side. Check out the photos to see for yourself, but we see a ton of potential here. Exterior: - Rust at the forward corner of the passenger door, driver’s door is better but still has some bubbling. Top of the chrome rear bumper shows some rust/pitting, front is much better but the bumper does have a dent near center. There is also a significant spot of rust on the sill under the rear hatch (see photo with rear glass propped up). - Original Avocado Green paint is visible in a number of areas. The firewall, floors, etc. It’s too bad somebody painted the car an off white color a while back, because the original shade is fantastic. Condition of the white paint isn’t great. It’s decent, smooth and shiny, but there a number of noticeable chips and scratches scattered about. - American Racing wheels look great and show only a slight bit of oxidation, but tires need replacing straightaway. Not flat spotted, but dry and old. Original full-size spare steel wheel with Toyo tire is present and doesn’t look to have ever been used. Spare well is nice and dry, with no through rust. - Glass and light lenses are all clear and crack-free throughout. - Chin spoiler has a crack near center. Original front fascia will also come with the car (still green). - Doors open and close nice and smoothly. Panel fitment is spot on. No evidence of any previous accidents, and the 40-year-owner was unaware of the car ever having any significant damage. Interior: - Photos provide a close look at the interior. Dash is not cracked but has a little bit of damage by way of a couple gouges on the passenger side. Black plastic pieces throughout the interior present nicely, not dry and faded or brittle. - Seats need reupholstering. Passenger’s seat is actually quite good, with just a couple burst seams on the seat bottom, but the driver’s seat is pretty well torn up. - Gauge faces look good, not faded and gross. Odometer reads 00729, presumably just over 100k. We do not know actual mileage, and the L24 engine is not the original unit. Under the Hood / Underbody: - Please take a look through the underbody photos, as the car is documented in detail. Rust is through at the forward corner of both the driver’s and passenger’s front floors, as well as a small spot in the corner of the driver’s rear floor. Structurally the car is sound, but floors will definitely need to be done. Frame is solid, and we do note a spot on the driver’s side frame rail with a scar presumably from poor jack placement. - Car just has a clean title, no additional documentation.
